The sodawater that comes from the fountain at Irwinville is as de¬ licious as the fountain is pretty. The farmer with the treeless and stumpless fields and labor-saving implements is the one who will suc¬ ceed quickest. Telephone communication between Ocilla and Irwinville was opened 'up late Tuesday afternoon, and the service is excellent. . There was quite -a severe wind Storm in the You tig and Brannan neighborhood Saturday afternoon last. Considerable fencing and tim¬ ber was blown down. Mrs. Wm. Henderson returned from 'her visit to Middle Georgia Friday of last week, and William is his cheerful self again. Hyman & Co., at Irwinville, are doing a fine business. They know the wants of the people and are pre¬ pared to supply them. Rev. M. L. Lawson preached two ■able and instructive sermons last Sunday in the Baptist cht/rch. Good congregations attended each service. Mr. Snell and wife left'for Cin¬ cinnati Tuesday, where they will reside. Mr. Snell will travel for the Ensign-Oskamp Company. There was a big sheap-shearing at Mr. Ben Drews’ Wednesday, at Which the county judge, who is-an expert, and the county commission¬ er worked their shears. The telephone line’ is now contin¬ uous between Ocilla and Irwinville, and is of great convenience to those having business with the county officials, as well as others. If all the signs do not fail—the signs visible at the si'ng at Brushy Creek Sunday—there will be more than one wedding in the near future in Irwin county. Rev. C. G. Peeler, an able divine of Wright, Ga., will preach at the Ocilla Methodist church next Sun¬ day morning afcd night. Public cordially invited. Mr. George Tucker and Capt. Nas Henderson spent a portion of last Saturday killing rabbits near the latter’s home. They killed nine, making thirty-five killed there within three weeks. “Correspondent” has a newsy j letter in this issue. Syrup leads the town in industry, It is a great worker. Eli and the persistent advertiser “get there” about the same time. . Judge Dan Tucker has four acres in potatoes and will plant more. Contractor Mat Feltes is down at Alapaha this week moving houses. The air is full of, picnic taik, and the picnic grounds are presumably full of ’red-bugs. Mr. Will'Lott, of Coffee county, visited relatives in Ocilla Tuesday and Wednesday. The town cotineil will test the new electric light in a few days—“when the man comes back.” Fifthstreet, between Irwin avenue and Beech street, needs a small bridge a leetle of the worst. Mr. T. D. Smith, with Carter & Dorough, gave the Dispatch office a pleasant call Tuesday. Genial W. J. Clements, of the western portion of the county, spent a few hours in Ocilla Tuesday. Mr. Mashburn, of the drug firm of Mashburn A Denmark, Fitzger¬ ald, was in Ocilla Sunday night last. Mr. Walter L. Goethe, who has been in Tampa, Fla., several months, returned home Friday of last week. Mrs. Mclnnis and her pretty little daughter, Bertha, of Jasper, Fla., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. II. Powell. We-regret to learn that Mr. Jas. Tucker and several of his fariiily were prostrated with la grippe Tues¬ day. Dr. Ball was sent for, and we hope they are all better ere this. All promised contributions to the Methodist church will be called for next Wednesday. Be ready to meet the collector. Work of remodeling the church has commenced and will be pushed rapidly to completion. Cointnisoner Henderson is attend¬ ing shcepshearing this week, lie says, joking, he is running for of¬ fice, (doesn’t know which one), sub¬ ject to a white primary or ihass meeting. *Our private opinion is that he is running for square meals. The voters of the 1421st district are requested to meet at the pretinct Saturday, June 1st, for the purpose of electing a democratic executive committee for' the district. H. T. FriEfCMKE. Mr. K. J.
