Commissioner Henderson visited _ _ Fitzgerald yesterday on business pertaining to his office. Miss Sallie Hancock, of Luke, Ga., is visiting her cousin, Miss Bet tie Luke, of Irwiuville. Miss Annie Gurnganus, of North Carolina, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Barber, in Irwiuville. Mr. and Mrs. Nas Paulk have an other pretty little girl at their home six miles cast of town. Mr. Richard Purvis’ two-year-old baby is sick with fever. We hope for the little sufferer a speedy recov¬ ery. Mr. Martin Lee and bis charming sister, Miss Mattie, were the guests nt Mr. E. J. Hogan’s last Saturday Sli^ilt. Mr. L. J. Tucker, the hustling proprietor of the Ocilla Novelty Works, went down to Hazelhurst Tuesday, .returning Wednesday. Mr. Micajah Tucker and his ■daughter, Miss Emily, of Florida, arrived Tuesday afternoon and will visit relatives in Irwin for a week ■or longer. Mr. Aloraii'/o Tucker, of Buck born, Fla., arrived in Irwin county last Friday, and will spend two or ■three weeks visiting relatives and friends in this section. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ilogan left to¬ day for the western part of the •county-, where Mrs. Hogan will visit relatives for a week or longer. Mr. Hogan will return Monday. Mr. Jake It. Paulk, who ranks easily among the best farmers of the ■county, treated the Dispatch or jphanage to a mess of fine sweet pota¬ toes of this year’s crop, Monday. A certain young man, east of here, •was trying to put the lid on a jar of peaches recently and failed, got hot in the collar, walked out of doors and smashed his jar against a fence. Whose blood did lie say was to blame? To make room for an immense stock of fall goods, arriving, we must close out all summer goods. Come, price and take them. They must go at some price. Hyman Jts Go., Irwinville, Ga. 7-27-tf. Professor W. -J. Royal’s singing school near Mr. John N. Gibbs’ will close Friday with an all-day sing and a big dinner on the grounds. Prof. Royal’s classes always show lip well, and if you want to have a day of rare enjoyment, be on hand Friday morning. Mr. A. P. Greene, an euterpris *ng farmer of liiedsfield, Wilcox ■county, brought a bale of cotton by train to Ocilla Tuesday. He had sold first bales in Abbeville and Fitzgerald, and wished to furnish thc first bale in Ocilla, but the mer¬ chants decided that if any extra price was paid for a first, bale it should go to some one nearer home, and only 9 cents wa^'offered for the bale, which Mr. Greene declined to take,and shipped the bale back home. Mr. Sewell Harper, brother of our Mr. Lott II. Harper, whose attending physician, says he is doing as well a could be expected. M i Moultrie, who has been visting rela fives in Coffee county for the past three weeks, arrived in Ooilla Tues day on a visit relatives in J rwin county. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Drew, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Fletcher, and Dr. A. F. Fletcher and w ife left Tuesday of last week for Florida. While there they will be the guests of Dr. A. F. Fleeter and wife, except ^ their stay at Pablo Beach. Much timber was also prostrated. County court was in sesion a few hours' Monday. There was very little business before the court and only one line—that of a woman charged with keeping a disorderly house.
