Puckett, cashier of the Bunk of Ocilla, visited his son Wednesday. Miss Bertha Molnnis, who spent part of the holidays with her sister, Mrs. J. II. Powell, in Ocilla, re¬ turned to her home in Jasper, Fla., Wednesday. There is already a good deal of talk about the election two years hence. Suppose we let that rest for a year or so. It is too early to wrangle about offices. ■J. S. Betts & Co. are preparing to rebuild their saw mill, which was recently burned at Ashburn. The new mill will be built, about two miles front Ashburn. A change went into effect in the schedule of the Georgia Southern shoo-fly train Sunday. Luke & Clements Returned from St. Louis, Mo., with 'a big. lot of horses and mules Tuesday. They were unloaded at Fitzgerald Tues¬ day night. The official census gives Fitzger¬ ald a population of 1,817. The 1537th district, including the city, has a population of 2 515. It is amusing to see the little shafts someof our contemporaries are hurling at Mr. Bryan and Mr. Cleveland, according to their pol¬ itical beliefs. Mercer, of the Fitzgerald Enterprise, met with a serious accident week before last by getting his right hand caught between the cylinder and a form of type while the newspaper press was : in motion. While the accident is a very serious one, yet we hope the band will' not be permanently maimed. The annual meeting of the stock¬ holders of the Bank of Ocilla was held in the Bank Wednesday, and the showing made was satisfactory to the stockholders. They declared that the cashier’s statement was highly complimentary to the presi j dent, Mr. J. H. Powell, and to the ; cashier, Mr. 1 . 1>. Puckett, and to show their appreciation, presented j a check for $100.00 to the presi¬ dent, while Capt. Ben Drew pre¬ sented the cashier with a check for # 20 . 00 , Tuesday Capt. Nas Henderson, while looking on where rails were being split on his farm near town, came near being killed by a falling limb.
