A Cure of Deafness.
A San Francisco printer, who has
been deaf for thirty years, now hears as
well as anybody. Seven weeks ago he
was troubled with pains in his head
while he was setting type. He described
these symptoms to his physician, who,
having long made a specialty of para
lvtic diseases, conceived the idea that the
jwrtsys useless endeavors ss to 7 have hisdeaf
j n ^j ie
ness removed, and did not care to make
ar) y further attempts in that direction.
Rut when the doctor offered to treat him
gj x months, if necessary, free of charge,
he consented to the proposition. A species
of and ’'ojment He was applied giving to mixture his throat for
e..». was a
gargling, and supplied with a little
medicine for internal use. The course
of treatment was continued for two or
three days before any effect became ap
parent. Previous to this time he had
Dee D so deaf that the discharge of acan
non within a few feet of him did not
disturb him. One morning he was
awakened by a sound the first he had
^ ghoolt ham ) 8 with the j and -
lord, and slapped his fellow-boarders on
the shoulder. It was sometime before
j )e cou id explain pointed the cause of his
ecstacieg . H e to his ears. He
t r j e d to speak, but the organs of speech,
inactive for so many years, could not do
his bidding. At last he made himself
understood to the amazed bystanders,
and they knew that his noisy rejoicing
was occasioned by a partial that time restoration the phy
of his hearing. Since
sician has continued his wonderful
treatment, and the deafness of his patient
is gradually disappearing,
Oij> Hilly Smith used to run a store
in an Ohio town. One day being absent,
and his clerk in charge, a pious pilgrim
came along, told and after getting a few
things, the young man that he was
in need, and could not pay him, but
that the Lord would pay him. The
young cepted man the being kindly disposed, ac¬
security, and when old Billy
came Well, home, he told him of the sale.
“ well,” said the old man, “ did he
give you an order?” “ No sir,” replied
the clerk. “ What, no order? Then
bow the great Andy Jackson do you
ever expect to collect the bill?” The
item was charged up to profit and loss.
Phthicians ssy that there is no remedy for
Consumption, and possibly, in some cases the
assertion may be csrrcot. We know, however,
of many l ines made by Dr. Bull’s Cough
Syrup, and will guarantee positive relief to
the sufferer in every instance.
Nervous Sufferer A dose of Vegetine,
i taken just before going Iu bed, will ensure a
eoiufortahic night’s rest to tl.e uervovs sufferer.
