;Attention, Democrats!
ThelClkfttvmask Bemads art Alarm—
L«»k Out Votars!
Being reliably informed that it is
the policy of the Republican paity
to notify all their voters % few days
before the election, to be held on
the 6th day of November, for Pres¬
ident and Vioe-Preeident of the
United States, and member of Con¬
gress for this District, to turn out
en masse and vote for the Republi¬
can nominees, thus, if possible, to
surprise the Democratic party.
1 hereby appeal to every demo¬
cratic voter in the 6th Congression¬
al Distriot, to turn out on the 6th
day of November and cast his bal¬
lot for the Democratic nominees.
* The remembrance of Republican
rule in Georgia should be a suffici¬
ent incentive to stimulate every
Democrat to labor earnestly to see
that the Republican party is not
again restored to power..
Resp’tfully,
Jf. D.Dismuke,
Ch. fix. Com. 6th Con. district.
Our $Text Legislature
Th# farmer* of the State usually
make up a Urge portion of the
mamherahip of the Georgia Legis¬
lature. The next session 'on ex¬
amination of tit* list of members,
verified at tha Department of Agri¬
culture, ahowsi the number of far¬
mer* in both houses, 183. Of this
number the Senate has seventeen
and the House 116. Out of 219
membara af the General Assembly
this makes a strong representation
of the agricultural interest. If
there is any legislation desired or
necessary for the welfare of the far¬
ming interest it will he the fault of
the farmers themselves if it is not
secured.
The next largest representation
In the Legislature is the lawyers, of
course. The only wonder is that
it ia not the largest, In both
branches there are 74 lawyers,
fourteen of these are in the Senate
and sixty in the House. The re¬
mainder of ths list shows a sprink¬
ling of doctors,preachers, merchants
dentist and capitalists. All the in¬
terests of the great State seem to be
fairly represented, and the people
of the State will have good cause
4,0 complain if the woik of the ses¬
sion is not up to a high mark.
In the United States senate, on
Tuesday, 17th, Mr. Gray, of Dela¬
ware, presented a petition of five
hundred manufacturers and wage
earners of Connecticut, asking con¬
gress to pass the Mills tariff bill.
We are informed that a member
of the democratic executive com¬
mittee of Rockdale county voted
the independent ticket at the last
election. If so, the gentleman
ought to resign his trust.
No Democrat who is entitled to
vote should neglect to go to the polls
on the 6th day of November. It is
a duty they owe theniuolvs and their
country to vote for Cleveland and
Thurman, The south should poll
a full vote in the coming election.
Mr. John L. Sullivan is about to
* his duties sporting
enter upon as
editor of a New York paper, and it
is announced that for the present
he will have a private secretary,
who will do the writing. Mr. Sul¬
livan’s duties are not defined, but
it is presumed the principal one will
be to protect the secetary.
■—t' ‘l
The democrats of this congress¬
ional district are clearly warned to
be neither idle or inactive Indif¬
ference in such a matter as voting,
when danger lurks there, may canse
deep regret if not intense mortifica¬
tion. Come out on the 6th of No
vember and poll your vote. Ever
dvmocrat will uo doudt do this.
