There is no use suffering with a
wound of any kind now-a-day.
Simply keep it wet with Dr. Tieh
enor's Antiseptic. It stops the
pain and heals it quicker than any¬
thing, and costs only 50 cents a
bottle.
The new Baptist church is a
bout completed and it is a very
handsome building. It is an or¬
nament to the town as well as a
good, substantial building and
does credit to the builder, Mr.
Bob Wallis.
Mr. Y. A. McGinty, who has
bought Dr. R. A, Jones* home,
will move his family to this place
next Wednesday. Mr. McGinty
comes to Conyers to school his
children. They will find a hearty
welcome to our city.
Mr. C. Y. Sanford, of Macon,
formerly a cit zen of this place,
was in Conyers a short time last
week shaking hands with his
many friends. It is rumored that
Mr. Sanford will probably move
back io Conyers at an early date.
We would be glad to have Mr.
Sanford move back to our little
city.
Mr. R. C. Cowardin, Western
Passenger Agent for the Nash¬
ville, Chattanooga & St. Louis
.d,y., was in Conyers Monday
morning distributing advertising
matter for his road. Mr. M. R.
Hudson, the genial soliciting a
gent of the Ga. R. R., was with
him. The gentlemen gave us a
very pleasant call while here.
Services at the Christian church
were protrated from last Sunday,
but came to a sudden stop last
night on account of the sickness
of the pastor, Rev. Wm. Wood.
Rev. R. A. Bowman preached
last night and closed the meeting
for the pastor. There were five
additions to the church during the
meeting. We hope to see Rev.
Wood able to be on the streets
again soon.
We will put our friend Tom

TO THEIR OLD HOME.
Capt. J. B. Reese and his fami¬
ly are no longer with us. Mon¬
day the household goods were
shipped to Eatonton, where Mrs.
Reese had gone several days be¬
fore to arrange for their coming,
and Mr. Reese left Tuesday morn¬
ing. Capt. Reese,. for he is fa¬
miliarly known by that title at
his old home, came in Tuesday
morning to tell us good by and,
though his heart was full over the
thought of leaving the many very
dear friends he had made here,
there was a spark of joy in his
eyes because he was soon to be
at home, where the people knew
him and honored him for the up¬
rightness of liis daily walk.
Capt. Reese and his family have
lived here something over two
years and made many friends du
ing the time, who very reluctantly
said good by. This excellent fam¬
ily will always find a most hearty
welcome whenever they visit our
city.

REVIEWING.
Editor Banner: —Pardon an
humble scribler the presumption
in asking for a small portion of
space in your valuable paper.
The Banner is always sought
and read with pleasure by my
family. It is our household com
panion, and very truly indexes, in
its weekly visits, the outside
world generally; but in an espec
ial sense, it photographs for us
our local interests.
It is a matter of comment that
with the on-coming season of the
fall Toth trade tike people and business
on new activity. Brisk
ness among the people of all
professions and callings
oervades. This is proper. The
summer months are usually quiet
and the trading people are rest¬
ing, so to speak, on their oars.
This summer, as well as the
summer of last year, emphasizes
a decided change over the years
gone by. For the last two years
Conyers and her people have been
actively and enthusiastically at
work in every line of trade, com¬
merce, and material development.
Everything seems to be on the
alert. Important changes for the
best have been made in several of
the leading mercantile houses. A
new and livelier spirit of dealing
appears to have inspired all lines.
Something over one hundred and
fifty thousand dollars have been
expended in Conyers within the
last twelve months in lumber and
labor.
Such an exhibition of thrift
and progress is gratifying to all.
A showing of this character
prompts us to quote the language
of an admirer of Conyers from a
sister city, who once said public¬
ly: “Middle Georgia is the best
section in the world, and Conyers
is the best place in Middle Geor¬
gia.” By the way, the above
quotation suggests another re¬
mark made by a drummer on the
streets the other day. He said,
in substance: “The merchants of
Conyers are reliable, upright, and
progressive business men. As* a
class and according to numbers
they cannot be excelled, They
are good and clever, Goodness
and cleverness mark f he charac¬
ters of the people with whom 1
meet in Conyers.” ,
Remarks of this kind are so
common that they pass often un¬
noticed by the people who have
long resided here, but as the town
is filling up with numbers of peo¬
ple who are not as yet familiarly
identified with the place, it may,
in a passing way, be well to speak
of these traits.
It is noticed that our school
commissioners are awake on the
school question. Nothing so dis¬
tinguishes a community as good
churches and schools, Of both
these we have a right to feel proud.
The teachers at the Institute are
accomplished and experienced in¬
structors, and we may expect
good results.
By the way, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs.
Green and Miss Green have as¬
sumed control and possession of
the hotel, so favorably known as
the Whitehead House, It is the
purpose and ambition of these
most excellent ladies to regain and
restore the reputation once enjoy¬
ed by the hotel. They have kept
hotel before and their entrance
upon boarding house keeping in
our midst is not new to them,
They come here possessing talent,
experience and accomplishments
sufficient to make the hotel the
best one in this section. Of course,
lt passes without request even,
that it will be the pride of al o
stand up encouragingly to the
hoteL
