most excellent people from our
town.
Mr. R. L. Guffin, who went from
Conyers last week to Albertville,
Ala., came home Tuesday night,
but returned to Albertville yester¬
day to open up a music house at that
place. He stated, however, that
he would not move l;is family
there, as he did not like the place
well enough for that.

Mr. J. A. Clotfelter is spneding
several days at home with his
parents before going on to college.
He has had charge of several
churches near Birmingham, Ala ,
during his vacation and is now at
home for a few days rest. Mr.
Clotfelter will graduate from the
Theological Seminary at Colum¬
bia, S. C., next June and he will
then take up the ministry perma¬
nently.
The Yellow River Primitive
Baptist Association will meet with
the Primitive Baptist church in
this place to morrow morning.
Preparations have been made to
accomodate an immense crowd of
people, and if the weather is good
there will be people here from a
great distance. The Primitive
Baptist people are very devoted
to their church and they have
been known to go to their asso

OUR COLLEGE STUDENTS.
Conyers sends quite a number
of young men and ladies to the
different colleges this year. They
are as follows:
Mr. Horrace Peek will enter up¬
on his second term in the Techno¬
logical school, in Atlanta, some¬
time this month.
Misses Fiorede Tucker and Sa¬
die Hale are students of Virginia
College, at Roanoke, Va.
On October the first Miss Irene
Invin will enter upon her second
term in Converse College, at Spar
tenburg, S. C.
Misses Clara Swords and Cora
Belle Almand have entered upon
their second term in the Georgia
Normal and Industrial school at
Milledgeville. Miss Bessie Almand
will return to this school in a few
Mr. Robt. Almand entered up
on his second term in Mercer Un¬
iversity, at Macon, last Monday.
Mr. W. T. Granade, for two years
a student of the college at Cum
ming, lias entered the University
to complete his education for the
ministry.
Miss Tilley Norman has return¬
ed to Cox College, at Manchester.
Messrs John S. Tilley, Steve
Gleaton, Mathew Eakes and Clar¬
ence Norton have returned to Em¬
ory College.
Miss Fleta Simpkins has enter¬
ed the LaGrange Female College
for her first term.
Miss Lucy Gleaton has gone to
resume her studies in the Wesley¬
an Female College, at Macon.
Mr. J. A. Clotfelter will return
to Columbia, S. C., October 1st to
enter upon his last term in the
Theological Seminary. He will
graduate from this college next
June.
To this list might be added the
names of Mr. Frank Brodnax and
his sister, Miss Lucile. Though
their parents are now residents of
Athens, we claim them as Conyers
people because they moved there
for the purpose of placing their
son and daughter in college.
THERE ARE OTHERS.
Editor Banner I have been
a citizen of Conyers quite a while
and I never knew, until the Week
]y of last week came out, that
Conyers had only one street; and
j guess editor Wallis discovered
that one street after he moved
down on it.
No doubt, Glade street is in a
deplorable condition, but
are other streets in just the same
fix. The street boss is not so
much , to , blame i , for U _ the , 1 -^ Oftr.rlitinn condition
of the streets and sidewalks as is

the city,' for one man, with no
help, can do all the work,
Editor Wallis’ “kick * * is very
good, so far as it goes, but it don’t
go far enough. There seems to
be some truth still in the old say¬
ing that “some folks can’t see
further than the end of their
nose. y y Editor Wallis could not
see tlie deplorable condition of
any other street but the one that
runs by his own gate, or if lie saw
it, he was selfish.
Almost every street, and espec¬
ially the sidewalks, in the city is
badly in need of repairs, and I
don’t suppose editor Wallis would
“kick” if some work was done on
other streets as well as on Glade.
There is Mill, Rosser, Railroad,
Cpvington, and a big portion of
McDonough street, which need
repairs, and some port ions of De¬
catur street could be improved on.
Let the city give overseer Vaughn
some assistance and fix up these
streets. It would help the looks
of our prosperous little city.

CHEAP BOARDING.
It does not seem possible that
the table for eight people can bo
provided for ten dollars a week.
But Mrs. Rorer, the most famous
cook in America, says it can be
done. She has tried it and knows.
She proves her case in The Ladies
Home Journal for October, Hhe
gives twenty-one menus covering
a week’s meals, and gives full,
practical directions by which any
woman can make as attractive
meals as Mrs. Rorer explains, for
this small sum of ten dollars.

OUR STREETS.
While it is true that the streets
and sidewalks in Conyers are not
what they should be, and while
much is being said about them, it
should be remembered that over
seer Vaughn has had a considera
ble lot of extra work ’to do on
sewers and other things which did
the streets no good. He has work¬
ed hard and faithful to give our
people good streets and has done
some substantial work. Give him
a little time and your street will
be put in good order._
ELECTRIC BITTERS.
Electric Bitters is a medicine
suited for any season, but peihaps
more generally needed when the
languid, exhausted feeling pre¬
vails, when the liver is torpid
and sluggish and the need of
a tonic and alterative is felt. A
prompt use of this medicine has
often averted long and perhaps
fatal biliious fevers. No medicine
will act more surely in counter
acting an 1 ffeeing the h y tem
