KEWS TOLD IK BRIEF PIRMPJIS
Amost remarkable record has been made
by Ramon’s Pepsin < hill Tonic in curm#
Chills and Fever and all alaria! Troubles.
Only about one in every thousand who used
this famous remedy in ’96 reported a failure
to cure, and to each of these the money was
promptly refunded. Tasteless and guaran¬
teed 50c.
The oil mill will soon be started
up with Mr. Egbert Smith as su¬
perintendent. Mr. Smith has
been making preparations for
starting the machinery for some
time and everything is now about
ready.
The Banner has recieved from
the State Agricultural Depart¬
ment bulliten No. 33 on fertilizers
and chemicals. It is full of in¬
formation and any farmer inter¬
ested in fertilizers and chemicals
can very likely get it free for the
asking.
Laurel, Miss., Oct. 5, 1892.
My son had his arm badly pow¬
der-burned. I used Dr. Tiche
nors Antiseptic on it and it did
not blister. He lost no time
from his work. It is simply the
best remedy for burns I ever saw.
Mrs. M. E. Ross,
At the Baptist church in Con¬
yers last Sabbath we heard the
best discourse on “giving" that
it. has ever been our pleasure to
listen to. It was delivered by the
pastor, Rev. B. D. Ragsdale, in
his usual quiet and deliberate
style, but it was very effective.
Dr. J. F. Albert, of Lorraine
district, this county, and Miss
Minnie Bowen, daughter of Mr.
Steve Bowen of Henry county,
were united in marriage on last
Sunday. Dr. Albertis a good,
clever hearted fellow and has a
host of friends in this county who
join the Banner in best wishes.
Rev. R. A. Bowman was called
to Lithonia yesterday morning to
visit the bedside of Miss
Belle Roberts, who was dying
from the effects of a burn she
received several days ago. She is
the daughter of Mr. John Roberts
who once lived in Conyers. Miss
Roberts was a member of Mr.
Bowman's church at Lithonia.
• Amory, Miss., Aug., 22,1894.
I think Dr. Tichenor's Anti¬
septic the nicest and best medi¬
cine for healing wound and burns
that I ever used. Keep a bottle
in the house all the time.

Last Monday morning, in the
parlor of the Commercial Hotel,
Mr. II. T. Clark, of Gwinnett
county, and Miss Dola Henry,
daughter of Z. L. Henry of this
county, were united in marriage,
’Squire Glenn officiating. It was
a run away match and was at¬
tended by several of the town peo
pie.
The members of the Baptist
church iu this place have called
Rev. I. G. Walker, of Covington,
to serve them as pastor at this
church next year. He has not
yet accepted the call, but it is
expected that he will do so at an
early day. Rev. Walker has
preached here several times and
gave general satisfaction. It is
hoped that he will accept the call.
“Uncle" Alfred Livingston, so
well known and dearly beloved by
all our people, spent a day in town
recently. While here he had a
tooth extracted, being the third
one he has had pulled since he
grew to manhood. Uncle Alfred
is now 94 years old end is still a
ble to look after his business af¬
fair!, and always appears to be
hopeful, cheerful and happy.—

At a meeting of the city board
of education last Monday eve¬
ning, it was decided that the pub¬
lic schools would continue to be
dismissed at 2 o’clock in the af
ternoon. This will save the pu
pils a lot of tramping in the cold,
disagreeable weather after awhile
and does not lessen the hours of
study, besides being of advantage
in many ways. The pupils like it
and, with few exceptions, the pa¬
trons do, too.

50,000 CROSS TIES.
Mr. John H. Averill writes the
Banner that he has in hand an
order for 50,000 white oak cross
ties to be shipped to Holland.
Ties to be 9x9x10 feet long.
If anyone in Rockdale county
can furnish a part of this order
write to J. H. Averill, Georgia
Railroad Commissioner, Terminal
Bld’g. Exposition Grounds, Nash¬
ville, Tenn., stating how many
they can furnish and at what
price delivered to the nearest rail¬
road station, he will secure the
order. If you have any timber
to sell in this way, write him.

HEAD END COLLISION.
Last Saturday morning about
one o’clock the West bound night
express and an East bound freight
train collided on Boartusk curve,
three-fourths of a mile below the
depot, completely demolishing the
freight engine and one car. Sev¬
eral other cars were badly dam¬
aged, but not wrecked. The front
end of the express engine was torn
off, and outside of that the pas¬
senger train suffered no damage.
The engineers and firemen of
both trains jumpped and received
several brpises, but none of them
were seriously hurt. The passen¬
gers on the express were consider¬
ably shook up and one, an aged
lady, received some painful bruis¬
es from being thrown over on the
seat in front of her. Conductor
Thompson, of the express, suffer¬
ed the most painful injury of any,
and was unable to walk.
The cause of the collision is not
known, except to the authorities
of the road, but there was evident¬
ly some misunderstanding on the
part of engineer Will Norton, of
the express train. Engineer Sam
Dobbins was unable to pull his
long train of freight cars up the
Yellow river grade and had
brought part of the train to Con¬
yers. Leaving the flagman to no¬
tify other trains, he returned for
the remainder of his train. The
engineer of the express, through
some misunderstanding, went a
head and the result was a terrible
clash of the two engines, with a
very narrow escape from death of
both train crews and a number of
passengers.
The track was blockaded for
some twelve hours, which resulted
in a general confusion of all the
schedules.
