Call was made for a mass meeting
of the democratic party of Rock¬
dale county on the 30th of June at
2 o’clock p. m. at the court house
fry select two delegates and two al¬
ternates to attend the congressional
invention to be held in Atlanta on
the 11 th of July, and the same
number of delegates and alternates

district.
And also called a primary elec¬
tion of the democratic party of
said county on Saturday July 21 st

er “wet” and “dry” campaign. It

July, however, and the people will
have time to recover from its effects

In one’of his vetoes of private
pension bills Mr. Cleveland says :
“I believe that if the veterans of the
war knew all that was going on in
fAie way of granting pensions by
private bills they would be more dis¬
gusted than any other class of our

President Cleveland refers will be

While negro slavery has been
abolished in Brazil, Indian slavery
is still in force. A trader in Brazil
says “that in the wildest regions
of the tributaries of the Amazon
bands of India rubber gatherers

many Indian tribes, from whom
they acquire captives from other
tribes. The lawlessness of their
proceedings is fully admited by
the Brazilian government, but over
the vast areas in the distant regions
through which they roam it is
absolutely impossible to maintain
any check over them.’”

To all whom it may concern. All persons
interested are hereby notified that if no good
cause be shown to the contrary an order will
be granted by the court of ordinary on the
85th day of June 1888, making and establishing
a change in the road known as the 1 Taper Mfil
voad commencinging at the top of the hilt
near the residence oil T. M. Thomason on the
East of Yellow river and'turning to the right
going in the direction of Black's cross roads
and running through the livuds of Mrs. Mary
Moon, John S'ocomb, W T. Peek and Ralph
Neat and intersecting the road now in use
about one hundred yards west side of Carr’s
Giu branch a distanced’ about one and a half
miles. Also to abolish as a tmblie road so
much of the now in une that is lying between
the two points of the contemplated change
