The Columbus Enquirer-Sun says
that upon the 2,500 looms in opera¬
tion in that city, there is daily pro
dueed 115,000 yards of cloth. She
spins daily upon her 60,000 cotton
spindles, aoout 33,000 pounds of

length of 454,000,000 yards, or suiii
cient to coil around the circumfer

Nearly 8,000 people derive their dai¬
ly support from this one industry.
The monthly pay rolls for labor
alone will probably reach $50,000, or
about $600,000 per year; all of which
is kept in circulation there. For
the stock and other expenses to run
these cotton mills, there is an annu¬
al expenditure of nearly $2,000,000
additional. The Enquirer now re¬
gards the business prospect as
brightening.
