MAKING FARMING PAY.
Select you seeds carefully.
Prepare you ground prayer¬
fully.
Di versify your crops wisely.
Plant nut and fruit trees liber
ally.
Reduce acreage in cotton bold
iy
Save manure like a miser,
and scatter it like a prince.
Ca.ie for your stock and your
children faithfully.
Sell two poor cows and buy
one good one.
Put your farm implement un
der cover.
Feed your farm and
your farm feed you.
Envy no man, but imitate the
ways of you successful neigh¬
bor.
A horse well bred and a hor¬
se well fed, is a source of profit.
Bad roads eat into you in¬
come.
Machines cost less than men
and eat nothing.
Clover and peavines are the
regenerators of the soil.
The price you pay for supplies
determines the cost of your cot
ton.
It cost more to raise one bale
of cotton on four acres than to
raise four bales of cotton on one
acre.
Labor-saving machines are
as much needed in the home as
in the field, for the health of the
mother is more to he desired than
great riches.
• Finally, brethren, Paul may
plant and Apollos water, but it
is God who giveth the increase.
Down in Texas those boister¬
ous government rainmakers
are at it again. They seem de¬
termined to bring down moistu¬

with all tho mortars, giant pow¬
der, helloons, brickbats, dynam

dead cats in the state of terror

things hum and they expect to
get $2,500 for the humming.

IT IS NOG PROSPEKING AND GROW

Oxford, Ga., Oot. 15.—Emo¬
ry College is now experincing
the brightest days of its history.
This will perhaps not be uppra
ciated in its true sense, due to
the fact that such expressions
are most invariably made when
speaking of such tropics. This
assertion, however is no crea
tion of fancy, but it is based
U p 0n f ac ts which are easily pre
sentahle.
Rarely if ever in the history
of the college has there been so
j ar g e a camber of students in
attendance. An addition of
$ 100,000 has been made to the
endowment fund within the
last year. Three new chairs
have been endowed and estab
lished are now filled by Profs.
J. E. Dickey, H. H. Stone and
H. S. Bradley, Jr. The depart

is looked forward to with great
interest.
