BTJRIED AT HIS HOME SUN DAY
EVENING.
v Mr. James A Armstead died last
Saturday evening at the home of his

Mr- Armstead jhad suffered with
several slight attacks of paralysis,
but about two weeks ago he had a
had a severe attack resulting in his
death.
Mr. Armstead was a remarkably
strong man of his age and all through
his last sickness showed wonderful
strength and vitality.
He was born in Putnam county on
23rd of October 1807 which would
make him at the time of his death a
little over 84 years of age. Mr. Arm
stead was not a member of any
church, but always attended the
Primitive Baptist church and strong
in that faith. His remains were car¬
ried to his old home at Alcova Sun¬
day and buried in the family grave¬
yard. Although the day Vas very
disagreeabe, the rain pouring in tor¬
rents, a large crowd gathered to per¬
form the last sad rites to their old
neighbor and friend, showing the
high regard his home people had for
him.

was shot, but was able to get to the
house without assistance. Mrs. Al¬
exander who lives near by was called
and responded binding Lem’s arm
and stopping the flow of blood. Dr.
J. A. Stewart was called and dressed
the wounds. The loss of blood was
so great that he was unconscious for
several hours after it occured.

The Lithonia New Era in speakin g
of the race for solicitor in this circuit
says: “The solicitor generalship is
also going to be a warm race. It is
now a triangular race between Col.
John S. Candler, of Decatur, Col.
Womack, of Covington, and Col. J.
R. Irwin, of Conyers.”
Col. Womack has held the office of
solicitor-general for three terms and
wo think this is long enough for any
man who is not a hog. Col. Candler
is in about the same boat and we
think it doubtful whether his home
people would endorse him or not.
