33 a Vs U(Ucehhj J.N. HALE, Editor. OFF CIAL CRAN OF THE COUNTY. OFFICIAL ORAN OF THE ALL IANGE Covington should be proud of her two-newspapers. They are sticking square to Democracy and the people. Mr. Remsen Crawford, a bright young juournalist, was down for The Constitution last Sat¬ urday. There will be but little oppo¬ sition to our State officers. They are mostly good men and the people know it. A number of gentlemen came upisom Covington to the speak mg.. Among others brother Si Hawkins and brother Jim An¬ derson, iGoorgia has a governor of whom she is proud. Able hon¬ est, open, manly, brave—he de¬ spises tlie very appearance of rottenness and deceit. The farmers, many of the m, started oil with the third party agitators, [were not to blame and decided by men in whom they hadjconfidence and thought were honest. Post refused to meet Living¬ ston at Douglasville and run, like the coward that ho is. Dunghills wont stand steel. We havo a cartoon of Livingston af¬ ter the rascals on our front page. We publish on our first page an account of the speaking on Saturday, last. It was a grand victory for the Democracy and for the Alliance and proved tbo leaders of the third party to bo a lot ‘‘dunghills.” Livingston, to-day, is doing as much for the Democracy as man fn the blade, and yet there are some who continue to knife him in the back. These same fellows say the Alliance men of Georgia belong to the third party and should all go with it. It will never be so. . t ____ Speaking of the meeting last Saturday the Alliance Farmer says : “ Four-fifths of the peo¬ ple wero against Livingston. ” In another place it says: “ How long wall our people support newspapers that are so unfair and unjust in their reports of meetings in which the people are interested.” Comment is unnecessary. Thirty-four delegates, repre¬ senting the alliance of this county met here last Saturday During tlio session resolutions were offered endorsing the St. LouyWatform. Col. Livings¬ ton asked that action be defer ed untill lifter his speech to the people in the afternoon. The third party agitator said no ; act at once. The vote was ta ceu and 10 voted for the reso lution, 0 against and 12 didn’t vote, showing that less than a majority voted for the resolu¬ tion. After Col. Livingston spoke 9 of those who had voted for the resolution came up and told him that they were against it; that they had been lied to and deceived. So you see that of the 34 delegates only 7 were left last Saturday who were in favor of the pension plank. Now, why did the third party agitators refuse to wait until Livington spoke to put the res olution to a test? Because they knew he would expose their deception and the honest al liaucemen would refuse to go With them. A on may fool the people awhile but it wont last long. :Vf 0 nWL, mi X l'.\ X i i ! y, f,\ l uk s, ■ # I ; SOUR ifPES!
