In Less Than Five Days The Bier

Two Much Beloved Ladie.
The Sad And Fatal Accident of
Mis. Eertha Lcete.
On Friday morning last,
^ 1S ’ ^‘iry Ilislop, daughter of
Mr. Walker Granade, who was
up to some four years ago a
highly esteemed citizen of this
county, but now of Atlanta,
breathed her last after a linger¬
ing illness of some months. The
of . ,. Mrs. Tr Ilislop . .
remains «rere
brought down inday
and carried to Mrs. George AY
Weaver’s, sister of the deceased,
aud was, on Saturday, interred
in Rockdale Cemetery, by her
request, at the feet of her much
beloved sister, Mrs. Ida FIol
lingsworth, who had preceded
her some years before. Mrs.
Hislop was well known to our
people and she has a host of
friends here who deeply sym¬
pathize with the bereaved ones.
MRS. BBHTHA I.EKTE. r
Hardly had the relatives of
Mrs, Ilislop returned to their
homes when again, much more
sad and shocking, came the
news of the accident and death
of Mrs. Bertha Leete, daughter of
our very highly esteemed citizen,
Capt. George AY. Weaver.
The mortal remains of Mrs.
Leete arrived here on last Mon¬
day evening and a large num¬
ber of her old school mates and
friends were asseui\;’-‘-K\ at the
depot with tearful eyes and
heavy hearts to receive their cof
fined play-mate of by-gone days.
The funeral services were
held at the residence of Capt.
Weaver, on Tuesday morning at
11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. B.
D. Ragsdale and Dr. J. W. Quil
lian, and aro said to have
been the saddest and
most impressive services
of tho kind ever held in
Conyers. A large procession
followed the remains to East
view Cemetery v here they were
interred.
We learn that Mrs. Leete w as
out riding in company with an
ot y ier lady whon th e horses be
came frightened and ran away
andshe, probably thinking it
safestj jumped from the car
Gage. The fall was a severe
0 ne, causing concussion of the
brain. The injuries were go
that medical skill could do no
good, though everything in hu
man power was done for h er
resuscitation, and she died in
about two hours, being uncon
scious during the wholo time
and speaking only once,
The accident occurred in Bir :
mingham, Ala., where she lived,
but some distance away from
her home.
How doubly sad it is to think
0 f following a beloved one to
her last resting place under
such fate as this; and liow very
sad it is to think over the life
from early childhood up of one
whom we admire.
Everybody here knew
Leete and admired her for
winsome ways aud loving
uess - We knew her in
childhood days; saw her go
sprightly to and from school,
ways displaying a smile on
face and speaking only
words that made friends with all
whom wiiom she sue met met. We we see see nn

THE HUMAN EAR.
A notable lecture on the sense
hearing by Dr. Hartman.
During the course of one of
Dr. Hartman’s latest lectures at
the surgical hotel he said :
“ Good hearing is essential to
health and safety. A continual
roar j U g ) cracking and buzzing in
t,] ie head which is always pro
duced by partial loss of hearing
is a constant nervous irritation
w hi c li will gradually undermine

deafness. Many' people think
that the gradual loss of hearing
i s inevitable aud that everyone
must submit to it soonr or later,
Hence they make no attempt to
find a cure. This is a great mis¬
take. Loss of bearing in either
old or young people is neaily
always due to chaonic catarrh
of the head or middle ear.”
Catarrhal deafness is due to
catarrh of the throat passing
through the Eustachian tubes
to the middle ear. The catarrh
in rare cases originates in and
remains confined to the middle
ear. The symptoms are : Roar
