Campaign orators are in great
demand. Speakers will bo sent
into every section of this great
country to preach democracy
and free silver. It will he a
campaign of oratory.
Mr. Sewall doesn’t do a great
deal of talking. If he persues
this policy throughout the cam¬
paign it is not likely that he will
be called upon to explain.
Another bond issue has been
suggested hut Wall street
decided to forego the steal un¬
til after the election. The cat
is gradually crawling out of the
bag.
The populist state convention
will meet in Atlanta on August

The people generally under,
stand the requirements of the
registration law which will gov,
ern our elections in the future,
but it will not be amiss for us
to again remind them that it
is necessary for every man to
register his name or make his
mark in the presence of the tax
collector or his clerk.
The political interest is now
revolving around Sewall and
Watson. The latter asserts that
he is in the race to the finish
and it is not likely that Mr.
Sewall will retire, therefore,
the situation is a little compli
ca ted.
Several Southwest Georgia
towns have received new bales
0 f cotton. Cordeie paid 11
cents per pound for her first
one.
Bryan says of Sewall:
“I am not willing to be plac¬
ed in the attitude of securing
help from other organizations
by sacrificing my associate on
the ticket. He is as squarely
upon the Chicago platform as
I am myself, and he has de¬
fended the cause of bimettallism
against much greater opposi¬
tion than have the men of the
West and South.”
Itused to be argued by the
populists, as an excuse for their
withdrawal from the democrat
ic party, that the West would
not pull in democratic harness,
that the western man dindn’t
like the name,‘democracy,’thus
they must have a new name and
a new party in order to secure
the West. How does this
gumeut tally with the record
of the recent St. Louis conven
vention ? Everything is getting
right now and we will all for¬
get ourselves in the great dem¬
ocratic victory just a few moons
ahead of us.
Since declaring for Bryan and
free silver the subscription list
of the New York Morning Jour¬
nal has been increasing at the
enormous rate of (5,000 a day.
This is a strong pointer.
The season when it pays for
people to read advertisements
is at hand.

Hon. J. C. C. Black will not
be forgotten whether he goes to
Congress again or not. He non
a couple of memorable victo¬
ries in the tenth.
Mr. C’eveland has shown his
hand in the Cuban matter and
when he is shorn of his great
official power after March 4, he
will be the most unpopular man
that ever left the white house.
A little later it wili be in or
to iuquire, ‘What’s the matter
with Hanna?’
The democratic candidates in
in Rockdale are all good men
and the indications now point
to their final election. The
Chicago convention sympilfied
the situation very much.
The Enterprise will certainly
suport Bryan and Sewall, Dem¬
ocratic nominees for president
and vice president, and will do
all in its power to help elect
them. The duty of every Dem¬
ocrat is to bow to the will of the
majority and cheerfully support
the nominees of the party.
This we have done in the past
and will continue to do in the
future.—Covington Enterprise.
Hon. J- A. Stewart, of Rock
dale county, has been nomina
ted as the democratic candidate
for state senator from the 27th
district. Judge E. F. Edwards,
of Covington, was elected pres
ident of the convention and also
made chairmau of the district
executive committe for the next
years- The Judge will
deliver a number of
democratic speeches during the
present campaign.—Covington
Enterprise.
If you haven’t registered do
so and be sure that it is legally
done. You can’t vote unless
you register this year.
Mr. Cleveland has been “do¬

and forget to return after 4th of
