Do You Know that Castoria is a purely vegetable preparation, and that n list of

Do You Know that Castoria is the prescription of the famous Dr. ftamuel Pilcher.
That it has been in use for nearly thirty years, and that more Castoria is now sold than
of all other remedies for children combined ?
Do You Know that the Patent Office Department of the United States, and of

Church Unity.
In church unity lies one of
tlie greatest powers on earth for
universal upbuilding and in
church discord lurks, on the
other hand, one of the most
destructive elements known to
a religious people. Our town
has always been blessed with
good churches and as a result
our community is noted for its
Christianity and morality.
When religious people pull to
gather much good is the result,
and it is our purpose to argue
here in the interest of united ac¬
tion upon the part of the Bap¬
tists of our town- This is one
of our strongest denominations,
and its power for good, in a
united effort, is not computable.
Just now this worthy member¬
ship is considering the question
of a new church and its loca¬
tion, and*from our standpoint
it is a matter that should be de¬
cided without prejudice or self
interest. A united action and
a Godly pull will forever settle
this question to the satisfaction
of all concerned and the glory
of our Creator whom it is de¬
sired to honor and emulate.
it was decided in Baptist con¬
ference last Saturday to de¬
termine upon the question by
the twentieth of the present
month.
This denomination owns two
splendid lofs in Conyers one
peculiarly suited for a church
lot and the other well adapted
for a residence lot. A new
church will be built upon one
and a parsonage upon the other>
and the question to be decided
is; upon which of the lots shall
the church be erected?
We openly avow that if this
matter is dealt with in a chris
tion spirit, if it is viewed in the
light of reason and right, it is a
foregone conclusion that the
old first Baptist lot will he
selected. It is time for this peo¬
ple to unite injspif.it and in deed,
’ and if this opportunity islet
pass we humbly suggest that the
building of a new church had
better be indefinitly postponed.
Prejudice will not permit a pros¬
perous church to prosper long
when once it enters the sacred
doors, and it were better that a
man stay out in the cold rather
than carry his prej udice unto the
Lord’s house.
The writer is not filled with
goodness, in fact lie is so little
in favor with the Lord, that
He seldom smiles upon us—’tis
our fault,but experience teaches
us, and above all, the Bible
teaches us, that these things are
out of place in the house of God.
We Baptist need a new
church, and it is a capital idea
that suggests a parsonage in con
nection with it, and we insist
that it is the most natural thing
in the world for the Baptist peo¬
ple to contend that the
proper place for the new church
is the old Baptist church lot.
Wo say this because we believe
we are right—could say more,
and make it much plainer, but
this is not the medium through
which the matter should be
discussed in detail. It is a
matter for the church to de¬
cide and we hope that the Lord
will get straight behind every
member and inspire them to do
their duty. We hope that we
may not be charged with pre¬
sumption because of speaking
iii this manner.
A liandson new church build¬
ing on the old original lot would
he a final welding of the old
bonds of unity that would, in
our humble opinion, redound,
not only to the honor and glory
of God,but to the eternalunion of
the Baptist denomination in this
community, in a spirit of chris
tion progress and prosperity
that would bring about an in
numraerable host of salvations
and fill the souls of time-hon¬
ored Christians and members
with the love of God and a con¬
secrated interest in th6 salva¬
tion of sinners that would ex¬
tend througn ages and ages
and inscribe indelibly upon
the minds of the rising
tion, memory of our worthy
fathers,
