Since 1878 there have been
nine epidemics of dysentery in
different parts of the country 7 in
which Chamberlain’s Colic,
Cholera and diarrhoea Remedy
was used with perfect success.
Dysentery, when epidemic, is
almost as severe and dangerous
as Asiatic cholera. Heretofore
the best efforts of the most
skilled physicians have failed to
cheek its ravages, this Remedy
however, has cured the most
malignant cases, both of chil¬
dren and adults, and under the
most trying conditions, which
proves it to be the best medi¬
cine in the w’orld for bowel
complaints. For sale by Dr.

They Can’t Play Ball.
As vve have previously stated
McDonough can’t play ball a
little-bit. That team is a soft
snap for Conyers, and no more,
so long as the game lasts, will
we ever be able to get those
festive ball tossers to visit our
town - In a sadly crippled con¬
dition our team went to McDon¬
ough last Monday to play a
long promised (?)game,” and
not one of our boys entertained
the idea that they were going
upon a diamond where outsi¬
ders, with clubs, knives, rocks
and baseball bats would be per¬
mitted to have full liberty in
challenging every decision of the
umpire, denouncing him in
shameful language and swear¬
ing to -wreak vengance upon
him. Dirty, black negros were
permitted to indulge their cor¬
age hilarity in concert with
those who invaded the diamond
from time to time in a vain
effort to intimidate the umpire
and rattle the Conyers players.
It was a bedlam. It was a dis¬
grace to McDonongh and the
goodjpeople of the town deplorj
it. Baring two or three, the
ball players of McDonough were
fair and gentlemanly in their
treatment of our boys, and noth¬
ing can be charged against
them. But some of those on
the outside who had money
on the game, succeeded in co
jolingone of the McDonough
ESTABLISHED 1865-
ball players into the disgrace¬
ful act of breaking up the game
in a brawl when it was seen
that Conyers would win despite
the unfair and ungentlemanly
means used to defeat her. Out¬
siders would toss rocks and
green grapes at the Conyers
players at critical points in the
game and many other real dirty
things were done that rubs in
the disgrace upon the guilty
ones.
The game opened with Mc¬
Donough at the bat. Three
runs were chalked up to her
credit before she was retired.
In their half of the first our
beys scored four runs and from
that time until the 6th inning,
when the game was called by
the umpire, it was a continued
brawl outsiders, and a certain
McDonough player furnishing
the dirt. ,
All decent people at the game
were disgusted, and we are
glad to say that some citizens
of McDonough, together with
Bankston & Moore, battery for
McDonough, and the scorer, a
nice young man, of that town,
openly protested, and declared
the treatment our boys received
to be outragious.
We are glad, however, that
our boys stood firm. They held
the ground until the McDonough

team left the field and the game
had been given to Conyers by
a score of 9 to 0. Even in a
crippled condition our boys
were to much for McDonough
and again we may be pardoned
for saying that “it is not laid
down in the course of natural
events for those boys to beat us
playing ball. ”
They came to Conyers, our
boys just half played and took
the game from them, and after
that their great boast was what
they would do when we should
meet them on their ground.
They have met and the story is a
sad one-for McDonough.
In another game Conyers can
shut them out, but they will
never meet us again, no never.
