Progressive Improv ement.
It is with genuine pleasuie we
r.o'e the universal material improve¬
ment throughout our city for the
past few months. It. is progressive
ness that speaks louder than words
and promises to place our town way
abovo the average.
To mention some improvements
in our mind wo will name first the
elegant uew residences of Messrs.
Jno. H. AI maud, It. W. Tucker, \V.
13. Smith and Lr. It. A Jones.
Messrs. W. S. Marbut, G. A. Al¬

man & Co, have been overhauled
aud generally improved. Dr-Lee's

the inside
R. W. Tucker’s two store rooms
have been remodeled, aud Mr. J. J.
Langford is now engaged in dir e
ting improvements on tho interior
os his handsome store.
Within the next ten days the two
store rooms belonging to Mrs. Gai
]ey will be made almost new. Mr.
A. N. Plunket has erected a new
ginery with all I ho latest improve¬
ments
Mr. A J. Fierce’s tan lery is a
new institution out and out,
One of the most valued iuprove
men s is the now Christian church
recently built here- It does credit
to i's membership.
The Presbyterians are arranging
to improve their church and the
Baptists have voted to build an en¬
tirely new church as soon as praeti
cable
These are a few visible ioprove
ments and wo are informed that
others are in contemplation. For
instance Dr. Guinn will build a new
home on the lot directly opposit the
Methodist thurch at an tally day,
and Messrs. J P. Tilley and J J.
Langford will make improvements
upon their homes if report is true.
This will give some idea of the
-■11 terpiising spirit prevalent nmomg
our people and yet there is room for
a n iuch greater demonstiatiun of it.
Ten or fifteen families desire to
move to our 'own and they cant do
it because there are no houses for
them to occupy. The towu has
simply outgrown its capacity of
accommodation- We [must build
more homes and the sooner our cap
italists realize this fact and meet the
demand for homes in our midit the
better it will be for all concerned.
Let us have some nice, new cot¬
tage homes.

Since 1878 there have been
nine epidemics of dysentery in
different parts of the country in
which Chamberlain’s Colic,
Cholera and diarrhoea Remedy
was used with perfect success.
Dysentery, when epidemic, is
almost as severe and dangerous
as Asiatic cholera. Heretofore
the best efforts of tho most
skilled physicians have failed to
check its ravages, this Remedy
however, has cured the most
malignant cases, botli of chil¬
dren aud adults, and under the
most trying conditions, which
proves it to be the best medi¬
cine in the world for bowel
complaints. For sale by Dr.
