Atlanta is in the midst of an
other sensation, Tom Del
bridge insured his life for fffty
thousand and disappeard from
the walks of life, Search is
being made for his body in a
lake near Atlanta.
The fight between the candi¬
dates of the demobrotic and
populist parties in Rockdale
will not be so vigorous as here¬
tofore on account of the nar¬
rowing of the campaign issues
to the money question, The
democrats will, iu our opinion,
win easily.
Our Candidates.
Dr. Stewart, candidate for
Senatefrom this district, hasbee n
among this people too long; for
us to attempt to tell our readers
anything of his campaigning.
It is well known that he goes in
to win and that, of itself,
helps largely on to victory. He'
is by no means idling away his
time these days.
Hon. R- H. Cannon, nom¬
inee for the lower house, is al¬
ways a uusty man these days.
He lias a man to see just ahead
and it is said that he is going to
run out way ahead.
Sheriff W. H. M. Austin, wlio,
’tis said, has more friends than
any other man in the county >
holds your hand with a confi¬
dence and familiarity that is
just “killing.” He is a smart
electionearer and will of course
succeed himself.
Ordinary A. M. Helms has
an unusually large number of
bridges to inspect just at this
time. It is said that he is con¬
stantly on the go.
Oapt. W. T. Huson, one of the
best Superior court clerks in
Georgia is seeing all his friends
and making sure of victory.
Treasurer Whitaker loves the
hushes and is conspicuous on
our streets for his absence.
Just where he is and tvhat he
is doing must be presumed by
astute politicians and close ob¬
servers.
Mr. G. H- Hull, Nominee for
Tax receiver, is a new Cam_
paiguer, but ranks tvith the best.
He is strong and will come in
with the first winner,
Mr. E. F. Cook seldom visits
town • His family lives in the
cut off and while the campaign
is on Mr. Cook can be found at
home Sunday’s. It is wonderful
how these nominees cover
ground.

These are all good democrats
and will do much toward help¬
ing the paty win out.
Hon. Hoke Smith has return*
eel to Atlanta and resumed the
practice of law. He is also
back in the true faith and will
make several speeches in the
interest of the dsmocraUc party
within the next few weeks.
Gov. Atkinson will receive a
large majority of the negto votes
of the state. This means his
election by an overwhelming
majority.
The Atlaira Journal has cut
the salaries of all employees 20
per cent. The Journal is not
enjoying the patronage it once
did.
It will be difficult for the gold
standard democrats, who have
bolted, to prove their democrat¬
ic identity iti the future.

Editor W eerily :—This sketch
is but a just tribute to the mem¬

dead who were well known to
your readers.
On the Kith of August, last,
Mr. W. W. Ray departed this
life after brief spell of fever and
on the 30ch of the same month

And in the mysterious provi¬

wife of our much esteemed fel¬
low-citizen, Dr. J. F. Albert, of

the arms of her Redeemer. Af¬
ter a companionship of 47 years
7 months and 23 days, she
leaves her loving husband now
bent with the weight of years,
and in great grief and loneli¬
ness, with four nol le and great¬
hearted children, one of whom
has been greatly afflicted a
number of years.
These two noble women were
the daughters of the Rev. Jas.

It is the ambition of this store to transact business with you
on the basis of intrinsic merit and if we don’t give you merito¬

We have such unbounded faith in our
