received a majority of 1171 in
Walton county. The Dr. ap¬

Our worthy Ordinary, Judge

this county with Uapt. \Y; T.

made a line race also and it is
duly accounted for by the ef¬

It is said that Blackburn, cf
the Atlanta Commercial,
out- behind. Precedent holds
in the case of Blackburn.
The result of the election in
Georgia must have been a stag
gerev to those populist gc-ntle
men and candidates who are
still out upon the race course
Battling against such odds cer¬
tainly cannot be cheering.
As usual Rockdale has elect¬
ed a good man to the legisla¬
ture. There are none better
than R. H. Cannon.
lank Walter Journal Howard of the noJL At

mg description of the much
written about J. Pierpont
gan, of bond syndicate fame:

tmction of being the shrewdest
and ablest financier of this de
cade. But what a boor. He
has a reputation of being the
impost i and mosthrutal man
with whom the newspaper men
of New York have to come in
contact, and every word that
has been uttered in castigation
of him I found to be fully war
ranted. To begin with, he is a
mau of repulsive appearance.
His face, marred by an im
mense corrugated mass o? red
that supplies the place of
nose, is anything but pleasant
to look upon. He reminds one
quite forcibly of a boiled lob
ster. But his face is beautiful
compared to his manner. Rude
ness and impoliteness are terms
altogether too weak to be appli
ed. He is brutal,cruel, ^
Possibly Mr Morgan thinks him¬
self rich enough to be ab’e to ttf- j
ford this line of conduct as a
luxury. Perhaps he is. Riches
a long way towards covering
defects in nearly all quarters,
they go a good deal further
that service here than any¬
else in America.

Georgia.
Tie- election throughout the State was all that Georgians could
ask. Gainswere made every'where as vVell as in Rockdale,
fhe majority is greatly increased over the last election, it having
reached nearly forty thousand.
Georgia has answered patriotically, and forever has she dispell¬
