saves the county a handsome
sum of money at each term.
Judge Candler was popular as
Solicitor-General but is more
popular as Judge.
Last Tuesday was legal sale
day and one or two oieces of
land was sold. The Gee place
was sold by the administrator.
It was bought by Mr C. J. Gee
for $16,000.
Mr. Chas. McDonald entered
Sullivan & Crichten’s business
college in Atlanta last week.
Chas is one of the cleverest and
most earnest young fellows in
our town and you can put it
down that ho will do well.
Solicitor-general Kinsey says :
”It is rest sweet rest, when I
come to Rockdale court.” It is
seldom he has to deal with hard
criminal cases in this court, and
he apparently ap oreciates it.
The Baptist State Convention,
at Gainesville is reported as a

tive to the new jail is to the ef¬
fect that some of the material
is now on the road and will ar¬
rive within a few days. It will
not be a great while until work
will be begun.

out the state, was here Tuesday.

The past week has been one
of trade and inspection for the

purse has been sadly lightened.
Miss Lizzie Peek, as an ar¬
tist is attracting much attention
and many diserved compli¬
ments. She has some pictures
on exhibition at Summer’s
store that more than do her
credit. Only to see them con
vinces one of the superior talent
of this niost excellent young
lady.
Rev, R. A. Bowman, of At
lanta, came down yesterday
morning and met the officers of
the Presbyterian church and
formally accepted the call to
serve that church as stated sup¬
ply. Rey. Mr. Bowman has pre¬
ached in this church and is
therefore known to some of our
people who are much pleased
with him.

a new bicycle ordinance.
It is now lawful for bicycle ri¬
ders to go upon the side - v a’ks
in the city’limits within three
hundred yards of the court¬
house.
Court brought many people
to Conyers who have not been
coming here as an everyday
business.
Bicycles are becoming moro
and more numerous in Conyers',
and we understand there is no
abatement in the fever.
Mr. D. M. Almand is
a wind-mill erected at his home.
