Mr. B. if. Wesley, of DcK db
county, to whom was awarded
the contract for building the
building the bridge across Yel¬
low River at Gee’s mill,
down last Tuesday and made
bond. Mr. West-ley desired to
begin the work next Monday, j
but as there was .some doubt as
to whether the mateiial could
be placed upon the ground by j
that time it may be a few days:
later before he gets to work, j
It is safe to say however, that
he will begin soon and that be¬
fore many days the county will
have another bridge that will
do service without trouble- for
many years to come.

The unexpected death of Mr.
W. R. White, an influential

need not apprehend any serious
trouble, as he thought he would
bo out again in a day or two.
Ho Ruffered none of conse¬
quence and was not thought to
be dangerously ill by his family,
but the end quickly and I

stealthily as above stated. :
The deceased was a man of!
many good traits of character! j

A little push on the part of
the building committee of the
Baptist church would be com¬
mendable just now. Somo of
the material is on the ground
and the hitch seems to come of
failure to agree upon a plan
We hope, however, that this
obstacle may soon be overcome.

An Election.
The grand jury, in it’s gen¬
presentments, says’
“We recommend that the Ordi¬
order an election to be
held July, 22 1897, for the pur¬
pose of issuing Bonds to the a
mount of ten thousand dollars,
such other amount-as may he
for the purpose of
for the new jail and
the present indebt¬
of the county, and said
to be retired in ten years
by annual payments, or such
as he may think best.’’
It is not our intention to fore¬
the effect this recommenda¬
will have upon the voters
the county—we know not
they will feel with regard
the proposition, but.the Wef,k
heartily endorses the recom¬
mendation. We believe the a
mount of the bonds issued, how¬
ever, snould be just sufficient to
cover the purposes named in
the recommendation. This will
greatly simplify the affairs of
the county and prove a great
advantage in the conduct of the
same.
There is no dodging this in
debtedness—-it is upon us and
the problem to be solved is the
proper handling of it, We be¬
lieve the plan suggested by the
jury to be the very best thing
possible under the circumstan¬
ces. It wipes out all old scores
and brings the matter down to
the simple proposition of the
annual liquidation of a certain
proportion of the county’s in¬
debtedness without additional
expense. It is strictly a busi
hess proposition and one that
should meet the endorsement of
all business men.
All individuals gladly con¬
centrate their indebtedness if it
be possible aud what is good
for the individual must be good
for the county.

Seeing is believing. Now a word to the breeders of this
section. Come and take a look at Brownzil and King William
before breeding your mares this season. Brownzil is too well
known through this section to need any special mention. It
goes without saying that he is given up by all as being the gran¬
dest stallion ever brought to Georgia,
King William must be seen to be appreciated. He is known
as the Jim Chupp and Jule Johnson Jack, and his breeding is as
followa: King William, black Jack, with light points, foaled in
1892, sired by Cleveland, be by Eureka by Rice H. Park’s Pea¬
cock, he by Henry’Lee’s Napolean and he by Imported Napolean.
1st dam by Rail’s Sweepstake Jack, 2nd dam by Lee’s Old Na
palean. King William will be kept at Conyers every other week
through the spring season, aud parties wishing to find him his
off week from Conyers can do so by calling at Mr. J. C. Chupp’s
farm, 1 mile west of Litlionia.
Brownzil will not be traveled this season aud can be found
at his office at any and all times at A, J. Pierce’s old livery sta¬
bles. Terms ; $10 by Jack to insure mare in foal; $15 by Stal¬
lion to insure mare in foal. Money due when mare proves safe
in foal, or approved note to be given. Will not be responsible
for any accident. In cases where mares are traded, money for
service fee is then due For further particulars address;
