Mr. J. W. Beard, one of the
oldest and most well known
citizens of our county, died last

years Mr. Beard could see but
little and it was with great dif¬
ficulty that hecouli get about.

New Church.
We are informed that the new
Baptist church will be started
withsii the next- few days.
Judge A. C. McCalla will vacate
the dwelfing upon the lot
wit bin the next few days ana
then the old house will be torn
down and the new church star¬
ted. A meeting of the build¬
ing committee will decide upon
all matters unsettled, this week,
and nothing will then stand in
the way. We understand that
the new church will cost about
thirty-five hundred dollars when
completed. Everybody will be
proud of the new church and it
will, indeed, be an ornament to
the town.
