New Tank.
The bridge gang of the Geor¬
gia railroad is nowin our town
for tlie purpose of tearing away
the old water tanks and
buildiug a single one in their
stead. The now tank will bo
round in shape and is to hold
fifty-four thousand gallons of
water. This is about ten
thousand gallons more than the
old tanks will hold. The wo r k
will Ire pushed and in a short
time the elegant new tank will
be in use.

Death.
Mrs. Sarli Mann, of whose
illness wo made mention some
time ago, died very suddenly
at the home of Mr. J. P. Mc
Daniell, near Conyers, last Tues¬
day. She had been sick for
some time but was thought to
be much l etter. A short time
before her death she was walk
in the yard. She entered
the house to portake of break
fast, and died setting at the ta
hie.
Mrs. Mann was a member of
the Presbyterian church. She
was 81 years of age and her life
lias bean a good and userul one.
The remains were interred in
Smyrna Cemetery Wednesday
evening. Rev. H. J. Adams
conducted the services.
Celebration.
The various Sunday schools
of the county will gather at
Smyrna to-day and enjoy some
good addresses and sweet siug
ing. It is the annual Sunday
School Convention or Celebra
tion of Rockdale Couuty and
every School in the couuty
should, and we expect, will be,
well represented,
Many large and well fulled
baskets will be spread at the
dinner liour and a great feast
in „ wi u follow- We hope that
ovorv one who attends may
meet with great pleasure and
that the occasion may prove of
tp-eat good to the Sunday '
School cause.

Protracted Meeting.
Faoin next Tuesdty night the
services at the Methodist churc 1
wiil be pro'raefed. Lev. Adam
will conduct the services at night
until Sund iy morning when dav ser
vices will also be helJ. R«v Adams
will have a<&i«tnnce and he hopes
for a grand meeting. The music
will be of the highest order and the
preaching wiil eer'ainiy be such as
should cause the wayward to pause.
There is every reason to justify the
hop 0 for good meeting and we
t ustit may be realized.
Plonics.
The season of pic nics is at hand
and the schools now have the mat¬
ter under advisement. The public
school and the Sunday schools are
all debating the matter and before
many days it will be definitly an¬
nounced what will be done. It is
very likely, from nil we can gather,
that a union pic-nic will Ire the fi¬
nal outcome-'-thatis, all the schools
will unite in one grand festive occa
sion.
Several locations suitable for pic*
nic excursions are being considered.
Grant’s Park j At'anta. Stone Moun¬
tain, Paper Mill and other places
are being talked of. We are uol
offering to dictate in the matter, but
we are satisled that neither place
above mentioned would afford half
the pleasure, to the party, that
would be obtained at Gee's Mill.
This, in our opinion, is an excep¬
tional p'ace to pie-pic and we sug¬
gest it, as the solution of the ques -
tion of location.
The public school and ail the Sun¬
day schools should confer and se¬
lect this place and tho day would
be more thau pleasant to all who
might be prisent It is one of the
prettiest places in the county and
should be made the annual outing
point for all the schools and as for
that ma.ler all select private pic-nic
parties. What do von think of the
suggestion?
