First of the flonth.
The first day of each month
in Uouyers means much, It is
a day of general reckoniug be¬
tween business men or a gen¬
eral pay ’'calling/'and day which partakes of
much ” bluffing"
don’t go for much. Your neigh¬
bor presents bis bill for the
mouth past and you must either
pay or beg off for another 3o
days* It is interesting to note
the number of calls made on
this day.
Sometimes the individual
calls as much as three times in
in on* day before lie can find aD
opportunity to present his bill.
Different men have different
ideas about paying promptly
aud the ideas of these indi¬
viduals sometime grows mon.
otonous • When you find a fel¬
low that takes your statement,
looks over it and keeps silent
for a short time, it is a bad o
men. He is inventing some
excuse whereby he can hold the
principal and make the interest
on what he owes you for a few
days longer, and you need not
count what he owes you until
you get it. He may be good
but ho is awful slow and is lia¬
ble to annoy you.
Another fellow that you hand
your bill to looks sad, a little
worried and requests a little
more time. He hasn’t the mon¬
ey to liquidate with and being
honest but unable, he is to be
sympathized with ana encour¬
aged. fellow is different
The other
still. He smiles when you hand
him the hill and promises to
settle it in a few days, aud un¬
less you allow him to increase
the account during the next
month your bill on the next
’’first" against him won’t be any
larger provided you charge no
interest.
The next fellow you tackle
is usually a silent, steady going
character aud when you present
your statement lie glances over
it, marks it ”0 K.”Jand you
hand it iu to the office man and
get your "coin •“
It is a busy day in Conyers
aud sometimes it requires con¬
siderable nerve for a man to
stay in town all day If a fel¬
low can stand his ground, how¬
ever, until the army of collec¬
tors passes he is then safe for
30 days more.

Do You Use It?
It’s the best thing for the
hair under all circumstances.
Just as no man by taking
thought can add an inch to
his stature, so no preparation
can make hair. The utmost
that can be done is to pro¬
mote conditions favorable to
growth. This is done by
Ayer’s Hair Vigor. It re¬
moves dandruff, cleanses the
scalp, nourishes the soil in
which the hair grows, and,
just as a desert will blossom
under rain, so bald heads grow
hair, when the roots are nour¬
ished. But the roots must be
there. If you wish your hair
to retain its normal color, or
if you wish to restore the lost
tint of gray or faded hair use
Ayer’s Hair Vigor.
