Row 1—Ou Jan. 16 sprayed with blne

was done to this row.
Result—Examined on April 19—trees
in fruit and nearly full leaf; -10 per ceni
of the leaves affected with leaf curl. Re

Row 2—Ou Jan. 16 sprayed with blue

tion of the same substance wai made o;i
March 12, that is, just before the tree
came into blossom.
Result—Examined April 19—in fruit
and nearly full leaf; tamper cent of thn
leaves affected with leaf curl. Better
than No. 1, but still unsatisfactory.
Row 3—The same as No. 2 and tho
same result up to April 19. The experi
! meat is continued by tho application of
weak Bordeaux (3 pounds bluestoue, •!
pounds fresh lime and 50 gallons water)
ou April 24, when tho trees were in
fruit and nearly full leaf. Final results
cannot be determined yet.
Row 4—The same as No. 3, with in ad¬
ditional application of weak Bordoaux to
be made later.
Row 5—Check. This row was left un¬
treated, with which to compare results of
treated trees.
Result—Examined on April 19, in frail
and nearly full leaf. Eighty per cent of
the leaves are affected with loaf-curl.
Tho trees look sickly and tho leaves ho vs
ft pale, yellowish appearance.
Row 6—Ou Jan. 16 sprayed with
strong Bordeaux (6 pounds Milestone, 0
pounds lime to 50 gallons of water.)
Nothing more was done to this row.
Result—Examined April 19, trees iu
fruit and nearly full leaf. Seventeen
per cent of leaves affected. Result not
satisfactory, hut tho disease was checked
considerably.
Row 7—On Jan. 16 sprayed with
strong Bordeaux (6—6—50) and repeated
the application of the same mixture ou
March 12, jnst before the trees came into
bloom.
Result, examined April 19, trees in
fruit and nearly full leaf. Almost per¬
fect, less tliau 1 per cent of leaves af¬
fected with lenf-curl.
Row 8—Same as No. 7 and result the
same up to April 19; with a third appli¬
cation of weak Bordeaux, (3—6—50) on
April 31.
Row 9—Same as No. 8, with a fourth
application to be made later,
Row 10—Ou January 16 sprayed with
caustic potash—8 pounds to 40 gallons
of water.
Result—April 19, 50 per cent of the
leaves affected with leaf-curl. Unsatis¬
factory results, but no damage to the
treos.
Row 11—On January 16 painted with
crude petroleum.
Result—Unsatisfactory, 50 per cent of
leaves affected with "leaf-curl.
Row 13—-O 11 March 13, just before
trees came iuto bloom sprayed with
strong Bordeaux (6 pounds Milestone,
6 pounds lime to 50 gallons Water.) only
one application was made.
Resnlt—Examined on Aprit 19, when
leaves were nearly out in full and a good
crop of fruit on the trees. The result is
almost perfect prevention of lenf-curl.
Only au occasional leaf can bo found
diseased.
Other experiments were marie but it
is not necessary for the object of this
paper to give them here.
CONCLUSION*.
The , r „ of experiments No.. T, *
9 and 12 are practically the same, but it
is noted that in case of No. 13 only one
application is made and that thisapplica- !
tion is sufficient to prevent the leaf-eurl.
Two points are determined: 1. That Bor¬
deaux made by the formula of 6 pounds
of Milestone and 6 pounds of fresh lime
to 50 gallons water is the substance to
use. 2. That in the spring of the year,
jnst before the bnds burst into bloom, is
the time to make the application. In
the face of thdse results there is no ex¬
cuse for a peach grower to allow his
trees to become seriously infected with
leaf-curl.
Other experiments are being conduct¬
ed to determine whether the leaf-curl
can be checked after the leaves come ont
and the disease sets in. It is probable
that weak Bordeaux (3—*—50) will
check it to some extent, even efter it
appears.
