Mrs. Mamie Sharer paid a flying visit to Atlanta Wednesday; going that far with Misses Anne Ethridge and Totsie Stewart. She returned Wednesday night. Mrs. Mamie Shaver had a few friends with her last Monday evening to an af¬ ter-tea ice ciearn. There were present Mrs. Alice Bryan Miss Anne Ethridge and her father, Miss Lucy Gleatou, Miss Totsie Stewart and Mr. B. B. McDon¬ ald. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Langford are comfortably installed in the Sanford residenco. Mr. R L Guffin and family now occupy the Huson residence. In driving about the city Sun¬ day afternoon Messrs Clyde Lang¬ ford and Cliff Sigman were thrown from a buggy, f ortune favored them and theyrecieved no injury. They were driving with slack lines and the horse turned so quick! v the buggy was overturned, The buggy was considerably damaged and the horse slightly hurt in the right hind leg Miss Cora Smith has returned to her duties in Atlanta after spending ten days with relatives here and in Newton County. Lewis says it was the largest and most elfeganc display of samples he ever saw and the selection he made he is certain will please the people. After a stay of sever¬ al weeks she will accompany Mrs 1 Smith to her home, in Little Rock Aik., for the winter. Mr. W. A. Murray and wife, who have been with relatives here for a week past, have returned to their home at Ash burn. Messrs. Walter and Otis Adair and Miss Lola Young, of Coving¬ ton, spent Sunday here. Mr. and Mrs Ollie W illingham have returned to their home at Cedartown after a pleasant visit to relatives here. Mrs. Luther Still and children, of At ’anta, are here to spoud some time with her parents, Elder and Mrs. J F Almand Rev. Charlie Stephenson has been critically ill at his homo in this city for two weeks past. He has typhoid fever and his family and friends are very much coucern ed about him. ' We hope he may get well soon. Mrs. Carter of Palatka, Fla., is the guest of Mrs. M. L. Wood. She thinks of taking board in Conyers for a few weeks hoping to benefit her health. Miss Annie Ethridge bid edieu to Conyers friends last Wednesday morning and entered upon her long absence from the city, She goes first to New York for a pro¬ tected visit before entering upon her duties as one of the faculty of Roanoke college, at Poanoke, Va, May success attend her. They went from the campground to McDonough where they were guests of the family of their Uncle, Mr. H. J. Copeland. Mr. Ed Stephenson, of Coving¬ ton, spent Sunday here with his sister, Mrs. J. W Hollingsworth. Col. Jno. S. Gleaton, of McDon¬ ough, came over Sunday and spent the day with his parent*. He is looking well and seems to be pleas ed with his new home. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clotfelter are entertaining a little baby girl at their home. Mr. W. T. Butler and daughter of Marietta, are here to visit rela¬ tives and friends in the city and county for a month. Dr and Mrs. Hardwick have a high appreciation of the wee small boy that has come to make his home with thorn. Mr. Oscar Dabney and brother, Master Frank, of Ingleside, were with relatives here Sunday. Mr. Otis Adair, of Covington, has been here this week taking a much needed rest. Mr. and Mrs. Minor, of near Lawrenceville, were here last Tuet day. They were looking for a house and lot in our city with the intention of buying and moving here. We hope t hev may get suit¬ ed and becomv citizens of our town. Farmers are much pleased with the crop prospect at this time. Cotton and corn are in fine condi¬ tion and the prospect is promising for a line yield. Mr. and Mrs J. P. Tilley left f( r Glenn Springs, S. C., last Wednesday at? noon. We trust that their stay may he pleasant and profitable. Mr. Berto McCord is doing good work in the McCord-Stewart Gro¬ cery Co’s store in Atlanta. A negro convict was drowned in Yellow river at Almon last Sun¬ day. He was a trusty and his time in the gang would have been out in a day or two. He went in bath¬ ing and got hung between two rocks under the water and drown¬ ed, although two or three otlu r negroes were in easy reach of him. Miss Orvis of Winston, N. C., spent a short time here this week, with Mrs. C. B. Hudson. Many Atlanta people are expect ed to attend Smyrna Camp meet l n g.
