Cannon, ot Prince¬ ton, made a short visit to his Bro. Dr. R. H. Cannon, at Jonesboro, last Saturday. DEATH. The death of the infant of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Sharp, occurred at their'home in this city last Satur¬ day night after an illness of sev¬ eral weeks. The devoted parents have the sympathy of many friends m their sad affliction. The remains of the little one were offered in Rockdale cemetery Sunday afternoon; NO. 39 The many friends of Dr. M. II. Melton, of Conyers, will be de¬ lighted to learn that he lias been tendered t lie position of storekeep¬ er at the now federal prison in At¬ lanta. The position was secured for him by Col. L. F. Livingston, and is a most excellent one. We do not know certainly, but have been informed the salary attached to the position is about .$1,600. Tne Star congratulates the doctor upon his good fortune, as we know lie is well qualified io fill the posi¬ tion with satisfaction to the gov¬ ernment and credit to himself.— Covington Star. Nov. 21; Honey Creek, Sept. 26, Off. 29, Nov. 26; Lorraine, Sept. 30, Oct. 30, Nov. 29. The remainder of the time, I may be found in mv office in G. A. Lucas’ store in Conyers, Ga.
