The initial attraction of the Conyers Lyceum c mrse, of the Alkahest system, was the appear¬ ance of Mr. J. William Macy at the Institute Auditorium last Tuesday night. The weather was by no means auspicious, but a good audience greeted the artist and were more than well paid for their presence, Mr. Macy must have been at his best on this oc¬ casion. He kept his audience in hand from beginning to end and their pleasure was very evident. They roared with laughter, ap¬ plauded loudly, listened breath¬ lessly and when the end came they were one in mind—Macy 'was great. If the attractions yet to come prove the equal to or, ap¬ proximate, Macy, the people of Conyers will be fortunate indeed Dr. M. H. Melton received his appoin'ment as master of trans¬ portation and farmer, at the lecl eral Prison in Atlanta, last Sat¬ urday evening and on the follow¬ ing Monday morning he left to as¬ sume the duties of the office The appointment carries a salaiy of II,000.
