our citizens that an invitation

News of the death of President;
McKinley was momentarily ex¬
pected by the people everywhere;
in a small country town a group
of gentlemen had congregated
around the bulletin board await¬
ing tidings of the dying chief. An
old negro was standing hard by, a
thoughtful look in his eye. A
message came announcing the
President’s death—a moment per¬
fect silence and then the old ne¬
gro exclaimed : ‘Thar, by gosh !
I,on Livingston’s President.”

The home was insured for
about $20,000.00. Before the

of destruction, the Atlanta pa¬
pers had started a subscription
fund to replace the building.
This fund has grown rapidly
I and the work of replacing the
Jhorae will be slatted in a short
