running, as I have been since D74” (not

This is very <3 V,' »; • fr- m
that which appeared in ono of our leading

of Mr. Livingston's forrmw campaigns.
Note the following: "If the ! eo.ocracy

district is under any oblig.irio,.* to Leoni¬

Is to meet and name a i ure Democrat to

Democratic to consider him even as a
possibility In the Democratic nominating
convention. Let Mr. Livingston look else
vhere for support than to the Simon-pure
Democracy.”
The Constitution continues ns follows:
"lie has never beoji appealed u> In vain
to exert his Influence in behalf of any of
the enterprises of the city or district."
Now let us see how he handled the
Covington, Ga., enterprise, ns appeared
in the editorial column of the Atlanta
Constitution some years ago before they
and Mr. Livingston "hitched up." Note
the following: "The disclosure of last
right before the railroad committee about
the conduct of 1* F. Livingston, late pres¬
ident of the Macon and Covington rail¬
road, shows that he has been ’supplemen¬
ts again! Major Hanson in his speech
showed beyond doubt that Livingston
procured for the Macon and Covington
railroad the Interests of four of the char¬
ter members of the Tharp charter, there
being seven. He received jo,500 for It, and,
as far as known, the charter members
did not get a cent!! • * * * This shows
conclusively that Mr. Livingston Is de
veloplng. He has certainly progressed

as a thirty dollar man ”

Past six years, to my certain knowledge.
Besides, my record has always been to

some section where th Democrats desire
to strengthen their party lines to prepare
for the Democratic election in 1904., This
kind of talk has as much bosh In It as to
talk about that "Banquo’s ghost,” the
sub-treasury hill. It would be a different
question as to the chairmanship of other
committees; a Democratic congress don’t
have to throw bouquets to Georgia to In¬
sure Us Democratic vote. . but Presiden¬
tial Accident Roosevelt Is throwing bou¬
quets to the Republicans In Georgia in the
shape of "colored appointments,” whereby
he may carry Georgia’s delegation in
Republican national convention. *

congressional races In the f>ast, thereby
emphasizing to future candidates that
they must keep shy of the negro both as
a voter and office holder.
On this line, I think that the following
editorial assertion of The Constitution will
be condemned at the ballot box on June
5th: “The wisdom of re-electing Mr. Liv¬
ingston is apparent to every man inter¬
ested in the district's welfare.”
The editor-in-chief of the Atlanta Con¬
stitution is my personal friend, and a right
clever fellow, and, as such, I would advise
him to go among the people throughout
the seven outside counties In the district,
for I am satisfied that then he would
shake off Mr. Livingston’s shackles, and
“Jine we-uns and company,” and, as he Is
young yet, we will try and forgive him
for the error of his way.
In all my twenty years’ experience as a
