CONGRESSMAN
LIVINGSTON.
The Wekki.v-Bannbb tie
sires to go oil record as fa¬
voring the re-election oi Con¬
gressman Livingston as rep¬
resentative from the 5th Dis¬
trict. It is generally conceded
that the 5th District has the
beet representative in Con
gross an 1 \vc won id deem it
poor judgment to discharge
a good hand in any capacity.
The people of the 5 th know
full well that their Represen
tative is looking diligently,
ah’v and fearlessly after their
interests ; they Know that lie
never let§ an opportunity
pass unchallenged that holds
out a possibility of something
good lor his District, not on¬
ly that but they know that
he is very useful to constitu
ent-s other districts and
congressmen, in that he olten
aids them in securing favors
from higher officials, in oth
er words he is a representa
tive from tliG state at large, so
to speak, and is duly appre¬
ciated as such. In rhe election

The Gubernatorial race seems
to have evaluated by gradual
stages to a point where it has got
the hoys of all classes and faiths
guessing as to where the lightning
will strike on June 5 th. The oth¬
er two candidates have been press¬
ing Mr-Terrell very hard for the
past few weeks but his followers
claim tnat he is still far in the
load.
THE PRIMARY.
The primary election will be
held in less than two weeks and
the various candidates will then
bo relieved of the terrible strain
under which thev have been labor
jl)g for votcs The result, howev
er it, may turn, will leave us with
good men t.o vote for in the final
eleotion and for this-we should all
be t h:\ukful.
Those who fail of the nomina¬
tion will, we hope, have nothing
to regret. Politics is. a
game and it is not always the man
with the m rt- friends that g. ts e
lected, for sometimes the fellow
who best understands the game
wins out.
The result in this county will
not be known until the votes are
counted, for in s< ue instances the
contests are very heated and will
be close*.
In the meantime heie's to the
health and prosperity of the can¬
didates of Rockdde.
