of Roekinurt, spent Sunday and Monday
here with friends. Col. Stark was a citi¬
zen of Conyers for several years and
feels an attachment for the place and
people. He was warmly greeted by many
of his old friends who were glad 1o have
him among them again for even a short
time. He left Monday evening for

convention of County School Commis¬
sioners.
Prof. Polie Ford, who has been teach¬
ing at Broad. Ga.. was in to see us last
Wednesday. He is now enjoying a va¬
cation. On June 18th he will be il pas¬
senger on President Pollack’s special
train to the Summer School of the
South at Knoxville, Tenn. Polie is
equipping himself for teaching and sue! ,
perseverance as he exhibits will finally
land him at the top. We wish him all
success for he certainly deserves it.
Mrs. William Harris Simpkins has
issued invitations to the marriage of
her daughter. Miss Fleeta, to Air. Clyde
Hamilton Langford, the wedding to oc¬
cur on the evening’ of Wednesday June
5, at home. These popular young peo¬
ple have many friends here and else
where who will receive this announce¬
ment with interest.
Dr. F. T. Hopkins went to Norcross
last Thursday in responce to’ a telephone
message announcing that his father had
lost his dwelling, barn and all outhouses
by fire Wednesday evening. Tiie loss
will be about fa,000 with no insurance.
Dr. S. C. Hopkins who has been en¬
gaged in practice at Pleasant Hill, in
Talbot, County, was in Conyers last
Sunday and Monday. He left Monday
for Louisville, Ky., to take a post grad¬
uate course;from there he goes to Chi¬
cago to take a special course. He then
expects to locate permanently in Con¬
yers for the practice of his profession.
He is a splendid young physician and
has a bright prospect before him.

Co., Miss Lavonia Grant, of Doraville,

DeKalb County.
Misses Maud Alorris and Willie Alay
Hamilton will leave in a few days for
Litliia Springs where they will spend a
week. They will be joined in Atlanta
by a party of friends who will accompa¬
ny them to this jiopiilar resort.
Air. Joel G. Jackson, one of Lorraine’s
best farmers and citizens, was in to see
ns a short time this week. His renewal
of subscription to the Weekly-Banner
and several other papers was duly ap¬
preciated.
Dr. R. B. Ridley, jr., and Air. F.
Phiuizy Calhoun, of Atlanta, will be
here one day next week with Div Parish
Smith to enjoy a fishing excursion on
the river.
Air. E. L. Hancock, fireman on the
suburban train, has been off
days this week on account of sickness.
Ho expects to return to his work Satur¬
day.
Dr. Parish Smith has accepted a po¬
sition with Lea Bros. & Co.’ of Phila¬
delphia, and null be with them

Miss Alinuio Smith who has been
teaching at Locust Grove has arrived
heme to enjoy vacation. Slve is one of

teachers in the slate.
The Lithouia High School, Prof. C.
T. Clotfelter, Principal, is now in the
midst of closing exorcises. On M ouday
and Tuesday nights next interesting and
enjoyable entertainments will be held
at the school building.
Mrs. J. AY. Bell, of Harlem, accompa¬
nied by her daughter, Miss Lillian,
stopped over in Conyers to see her son,
Mr. Walter Bell, Thursday night. She
was on her way to Memphis to attend
the commencement exercises of Soule
college, one of her daughters being a
student in this institution.
The students of the public school have
been busily engaged in examination
work this week. A few more days and
promotions will be announced and the
spring term will have ended. The pro¬
gress of all the students lias been very
satisfactory and the patrons have been
correspondingly well pleased.
Friend Ernest Turner of Elberton,
stopped over here with relatives a short
time this week. He was on liis way to
the Grand Lodge, Knights of Pithias,
which convened at Valdosta last Tues¬
day.
Siuce Cupid has laid seige to and cap¬
tured several hearts in Conyers this
month, some of the old-timers arc trem¬
bling in their boots. It is predicted
that an epidemic of marrying is just
ahead.

auditorium. This will be pleasant news

Air. D. M. Almand, one of the clever
salesmen of Gailej, Dry Goods Co., has
been confined at home this week on ac¬
count of mumps.

will establish a branch business at
Circle. Air. R. L. Huff, of the firm will
be iu charge at the Circle and lie will

The railroad grading to the factory
has been completed.
A side track leading to the quarry aud
crusher is now being built.
The work of laying the track rails is
progressing finely and will soon bo fin¬
ished all the way.
The matter of lighting the town from
tlie plant at the factory will take active
form soon. This work will be the next
taken up.

Mr. Oscar L. Epps and Aliss Daisy E.
Spinks were united in marriage by
Judge A. AL Helm;, at his office, this
morning. The happy couple went then
way rejoiciug, carrying with them the
hearty good wishes of the Judge for
their future happiness and prosperity.
Raising Bridge.
Our Ordinary is having the bridge at
the paper mill raised two feet. The
dam across tho river at this point will
be raised four feet aud this necessitates
the raising of the bridge. For a few
days there will be no passing over the
bridge on account of this work, and all
who are accustomed to passing
way arc requested to take notice.
The work will soon he completed.

Miss Ada Clotfelter and Air. Thonip
son Stewart were united in marriage
last Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock,
in the presence .fa large number of
invited guests, at the home of the
bride’s parents in this city. The cei
eniony was performed in a most im¬
pressive manner by the Rev. Henry
Qui^g. The wedding party entered
the parlor,v bieh was prettily decorat¬
ed in white and green, to the strains of
Mendels! oil's wedding march, render¬
ed by Aliss Dona Bailey.
The attendents were Miss Della Far
rill and Mr. Eston Tucker, Aliss Nodie
Stewart and Mr. Ctto Clotfelter and
Miss Minnie Clotfeltor and ATr. Ed.
Stewart.
The bride was becomingly attired in
a dainty fashioned gown of white chif¬
fon and carried a boquet of bride’s ros
es.
The bride's maids were very attrac¬
tive iu gowns of white organdie and
carric d boquots of sweet peas.
Airs. Stewart is the youngest daugh¬
ter of Air. aud Mrs. David Clotfelter
and has, by her many admirable traits
of character, endeared herself to a widi
circle of friends who are offering her
their best wishes.
Air. Stewart is a popular aud promi¬
nent young merchant of Conyers, sou
of Mr. and Mrs. W, T. Stewart, who
lias won the esteem of many friends
throughout tho county. He is worthy
