A Warning to Borrowers.
A man who was too economical
to take this paper sent his little
boy to borrow the copy taken by
his i eighbor. In his lmste the boy
ran over a $4 stand of bees and in
zzzsx'zzz
his father who ran to his assistance
and tailing to notice a barbed wire
fence ran into that, breaking it
cutting a hantlfnl of flesh
from his anatomy and ruining a *4
pair of pants. The old* cow took
advantage of the gap in the fence
an d got into the cornfield and kill
ed herself ea ing green ,corn.
Hearing the racket. the wife ran,
upsetting a four gallon churn full
of rich cream into a basket of kit¬
tens, drowning the whole ilock. In
the hurry she dropped a .$7 set of
false teeth. The baby, left alone,
crawled through the spilled milk
and into the parlor,ruining absand
new $20 carpet. During the excite
ment the oldest daughter ran away
with the hired man, the dog broke
up eleven setting hens, and the
calves got out and chewed the
tails off four fine shuts.

NOT CATCHING.
A school marm of unquestion¬
able age who had a chronic dread
of all kinds of contagious diseases
forthwith sent a little girl home
the other day because her mother
was reported as being ill. The next
day the little girl presented, her¬
self at the school house and re
assured the teacher as follows?
Us’seg'ta little baby at our
house and mamma says tell you
that it is not catching.
A club of young ladies in Kan¬
sas have adopted the motto:
The young meu w r ho smoke cheroots
Shall never put their lips beneath our
snoots,
The devil of the Jackson Argus
suggests that the boys retaliate by
adopting as their motto:
The girls who enow their gummy gum
With a- can novo yummy-yum.
