At The Churches.
Continuing the protracted seivice at
the Baptist church Rev. Mr. Graham
preached Sunday and at night.
The Sunday morning sermon was on
the Prodipal Son. He said that the dis
position to sin begets within the heart
of the young to break away from the
constraining influences of the home.
Young men often fool that thej me
hampered by the commands and pro¬
hibitions of pious fathers and mothers.
The after life only shows that this is
an excuse to get away that they may
engage in riotous living. When the
p-odical came to himself he had tend
er me mories of the old home. He long
• 1 for its peace and blessing and was
willing to share it, even as a servant.
Re resolved to go back ami make a
frank confession. A good resolution
i« valuable only when it is carried out
His reception was more cordial than
lie could have expected, He received
the best robo, a ring on his hand, shoes
on his feet and feast in his honor. The
parable illustrates the sinners desire to
get away from the constraining influ
onccB of God and Christianity. The
more remote men are from these great
•r are the depths of sin to which they
go. The poverty of sin, its failure to
satisfy, makes one willing to take tne
place of servant The siuuer dreads
to come back to God. But the real
purpose of the parable is to show the
willingness of God to receive sinners.
to clo'he them with this tig teousncsi,
to give tokens of Bis unending OTe *
and to restoie them the juiv i egis ami
blessings of all that He has.
How can a sinner lail to be drawn
back to God by such tender compassion.
and such riches of divine favor?
All Heaven rings with joy over the
return of one sinner.

Gods ways are not confined to what
men call method. Laws may explain
much but not everything.
This is not because law 7 may not reign
everywhere but our ignorance of every
law produces the effect of the miracu

“When Are Men Ripe.'”’ The most
pathetic picture in the world is a parent
trying to teach a child a lesson, essen¬

learn. This was Jesus trying to show

he broke down in weepiiig over the de¬

“No, no,” sard the .priest, “that’s the
