CONYERS, QA., SATURDAY OCT. 5.1878
FOR CONGRESS,
Hon. JAS. H. BLOUNT,
OF BIBB.
1 — F —1
Hon. Jas II. Blount addressed the
citizens ot this county, at the Court
House on Monday, during the recess fcr
dinner. His speech consisledj to some
extent, of a review of the Electoral Com
mission and the Potter Investigating
Committee, setting forth tiie reasons
that actual*<1 the Democratic members
in 1 heir course on these important and
exciting ques ions. lie also touched
upon the euirency question, taking the
position that the Uesump*ior: Act should
be repealed and a sufliokney of green¬
backs issued and made legal tender for
all dues to the Government, to relieve
trade of the financial embairassment un¬
der which it is laboring. So far as we
could ascertain, the large audience was
wdt pleased with Mr. Blount’s views,
and will roll up a handsome vote for him
iu this count\ on the Gih of November.
