The Athens Blade office was 8old

An old farmer was in town last
week looking for an editor’s table, on
which to build a hen’s nest. He exN
plained that he had, learned from the
papers that the biggest eggs were al¬
ways laid on the editor’s table, and
be wished to ascertain whether the
papers lied or net.
A Criffin young lady made the fol¬
lowing remark recently: “Some of
our merchants are always talking
about patronizing their own town—
always harping on that duty—and yet
they go abroad to get married while
we all stand waitng! I do hope that
some of these men who marry women
from other towns will get cheated.”

to Atlanta, and a tarain of cars has
run through. In a few days regular
schedules will be arranged, and the
cars will be run, regularly between

of the same'road to Rome will also
soon be completed, and in a few
weeks the cars will be running
through on that end of the line.
There is nothing so tends to short

the health as the practice of sitting
up late. This is especially the case
where there are three or four War

publish this item at the earnest re¬
quest of several young men who care
nothing about the warm weather and
who are directly interested iu this
matter.

On a way-freight train, laden with
cross'ties, near Monroe, Ga., a few
days ago, a negro boy, about 17 or
18 years old, was jumping from car to
car. As he jumped, one of the ties
turned and threw him under the
train. He had a cotton>hook in his
hand, and as he fell he made a grab
and caught it in the side of the oar,
and held on until he could catch on
the box. Thus, almost by a miracle,
he escaped being crashed to death by
the train.

A man named Jones, living about
five miles from the city, on t he Ogee

several young men from Savannah,
who commenced making trouble.
They apparently were full of whisky

bringing out whisky and cigars to
the howlers he took a donble*baarel

The Guitteau family seem to be in

DR. J. BRADFIELD’S
FEMALE REGULATOR
WOMAN’S BEST FRIEND.
It is well known to physicians, and alas! too well
known to suffering women themselves, that they
are subject to numerous diseases peculiar to their
sex, such aa suppression of'the Menses, painful
and scanty Menstruation, Congestion, Ulceration
pad Falling of the Womb, attended with an end
less train of sympathetic and constitutional disor¬
ders, which embitters the whole life, and which
have long been considered as almost incurable.
But at last the remedy has been found in
Dr. J. Bradfleld’g Female Regulator.
It ,s not a “cure-all,” but a remedy for one class
of diseases, all of which pertain to the Womb.
Any sufferer from the diseases mentioned can
take this remedy, and thus relieve herself without
revealing her condition to any one, and without
subjecting her womanly modesty to the shock of
an examination by a physician.
To bring health and happiness to the homes of
suffering women is a mission befare which royal
favor sinks into insignificance. What earthly ben
elactioft can compare with one which protects from

How to Treat Your watch.
Wind it up at the same time every day.
Keep it in as even a temperature as possi ¬
ble. Sudden transition from heat to cold
may c<*use the. mainspring to break. If
you would keeep it clean never put it in
any pocket except one of leather. Those
octets which are lined with cloth, cotton
o calico, give by the constant friction a
cer. ; n fluff, which enters most Watch
Cases and makes its way to the delicate
parts o 1 the watch. See that the popket is
turned and cleaned often, and take an old
linen handkerchief and wipe carefully all
the dust from under the backs, bezel and
cap of the case. But above all you must
be sure that the Case fits firmly and to be
sure of this, select one where the parts
(center, backs, cap, &c.) are each made
from one piece of motal.
The JAMES BOSS* Patent Stiffened
or filled Gold Watch Case is so made,
and not only does such a Watch Case be¬
come stronger and fit more perfectly, but
it enables the manufacturer to turn and
form three pieces of metal (the outer ones
being gold and the inner one of an inferior
metal) into shape for the round parts, mak¬
ing to all appearances and practical pnr-
poses jn3t as good a Watch Case as the
solid gold, at about one half the cost to
the purchaser.
There a/e nearly one hundred thousand
of these TVatcli Cases now carried, .and
their good qualities are acknowledged by
the same number of happy possessors.
All Jewelers keep them also illustrated
catalogues for gratuitous distribution.
