William Glyn Ard
July 21, 1956 - March 13, 2008
William Glyn Ard of Juliette died Thursday, March 13,
2008. Graveside services were held Friday, March 14,
2008, at East Juliette Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr.
Marvin Lee officiated.
Mr. Ard was born in Bibb County on July 21, 1956. His
father, William Jack Ard, his stepfather, James E.
“Smitty” Smith, and his brother, Jim Randall Ard, pre
ceded him in death. He was a self-employed carpenter
and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include his mother, JoAnne Smith of Juliette,
daughter, Tina Dykes of Indiana, brother, Steven W. Ard
of Macon, sisters, Jackie Wilson Johnson of Juliette and
Nancy Cobb of Macon.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to
Maynard Baptist Church, PO Box 576, Forsyth, GA
31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel had charge of
arrangements.
Doris O’Neal Coleman
January 9, 1923 - March 12, 2008
Doris O’Neal Coleman of Forsyth died Wednesday,
March 12, 2008. Funeral services were held Saturday,
March 15, 2008, at Rogers United Methodist Church
with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Max Harrell
officiated.
Mrs. Coleman, the daughter of the late John E. O’Neal
and Lillie McElmurray O’Neal was born in Crawford
County, January 9, 1923. Her husband, Thomas Jefferson
Coleman, Sr. and her son, Thomas J. Coleman, Jr. preced
ed her in death. Mrs. Coleman retired from Western
Electric in 1979 and was very active with the telephone
pioneers. She was a member of Rogers United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include her children, Gloria Ann Coleman,
Cornelia Rhine and Debra Elaine Coleman of Forsyth,
daughter-in-law, Darlene Lester of Senoia, sister, Lillian
O’Neal of Roberta, two grandchildren, Jessica Rhine and
Beau (Faith) Rhine.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel had charge of
arrangements.

Nellie Louise Johnson Davis
December 13, 1917 - March 12, 2008
Nellie Louise Johnson Davis of Forsyth died
Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Funeral services were held
Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Monroe County Memorial
Chapel with burial in Monroe Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Davis, the daughter of the late Floyd Ensley
Johnson and Mattie Wallace Johnson, was born in Cobb
County, Georgia, December 13, 1917. Her husband,
Charlie L. Davis, Sr., and her son, Charlie L. Davis, Jr.,
preceded her in death. She was retired from the William
Carter Company with 27 years of service. Mrs. Davis was
a member of Cabiness Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Grade D. Stewart of
Forsyth, R. Richard Davis of Loganville, Tommy L. Davis,
Sr. of Ladson, South Carolina and Billy G. Davis of
Atlanta, sisters, Mary Tunison of Perry, Katherine Hayes
of Lilburn and Lucille Hammock of Perry, thirteen grand
children, twenty-four great grandchildren and seven
great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to
United Hospice, 2484 Ingleside Avenue, Bldg. B, Macon,
GA 31204.

Beverly Cook Ensign
January 5, 1925 - February 23, 2008
Beverly Cook Ensign died February 23, 2008.
Graveside services were held
Saturday, March 15, 2008, at
Forsyth City Cemetery with
entombment in the Ensign
Mausoleum. The Rev. Ken
Stephens officiated.
Mrs. Ensign, the daughter of
the late Howard Robert Cook,
Sr., president of the Atlanta
Brush Company, and Eloise
Reba Peck Cook was born in
Atlanta, Georgia, January 5,
1925. She married the late
Oliver Phelps Ensign, Jr.,
December 18, 1960, and moved
to Forsyth in 1982. She attended Wheaton College and
Georgia State University. Her freshman year at Georgia
State University she played basketball. Mrs. Ensign was
a supporter of historic preservation. She had a life long
interest in the natural sciences, and took several geology
courses at the University of Alabama in the 1990s. She
retired from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.
Mrs. Ensign was a member of Phi Eta Sigma National
Honor Society, Fulton County Retired Employees
Association, Forsyth Book Club and Monroe County Arts
Alliance.
Survivors include her brother, H. Robert Cook, Jr. of
Costa Mesa, California.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the

Eddie Perry Johnson
Mrs. Eddie Perry Johnson, 93 of Dublin, died Thursday,
March 13, 2008. Services were held Sunday, March 16 at
Poplar Springs North Baptist Church with burial in
Northview Cemetery. Dr. Jo Slocum officiated.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of Laurens County and was
the daughter of the late Walter P. and the late Vache
Fordham Perry. She was preceded in death by her sib
lings, Ralph A. Perry, Hugh E. Perry, Rev. Walter Perry,
Jr., Ellen V. Perry, Bertie P. White, Clinton Perry, and T.
Reese Perry. She was retired from the VA Medical
Center, Dublin, as supervisor of the medical transcription
unit, and was the oldest member of Poplar Springs North
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Russell M. Johnson,
Stepdaughter, Mrs. Evelyn (Edward) Bugg of Forsyth,
GA, two step granddaughters and many devoted nieces
and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building
Fund, Poplar Springs North Baptist Church, 289 Hwy
338, Dublin, GA 31040.

Estelle Fitts Lee
February 20, 1912 - March 11, 2008
Estelle Fitts Lee, 96, originally of Gadsden, Alabama,
died March 11, 2008 in Forsyth. Estelle was born in
Etowah County, Alabama on February 20, 1912, the
daughter of Lome and Bessie Elliott Fitts. She lived in
Alabama City near Gadsden, most of her life, moving to
Forsyth in recent years to be near her daughter, Shirley
Lee Allen. Estelle worked for many years at the Dwight
Cotton Mill in Alabama City. She was the third of eight
sisters. Her sisters include Alice Griffin, Thelma Gargus,
Edna Barnett, Emma Fitts, Geraldine Taylor, Loraine
Schultz, all deceased, and Julia Belle Clarke of Gadsden.
Estelle was a long-time member of Goodyear Heights
Baptist Church.
Estelle was married for 67 years to Willie Lee, who
passed away in 1997. She was mother to four children,
Ruth Thrasher Brown, deceased in 1994, William Ray
Lee (Betty Little) of Blountsville, Ala., Shirley Lee Allen
(Roy B. Allen, Jr.) of Forsyth, and James (Jimmy) Lee,
deceased in 2007, survived by his wife, Betty Maloney
Lee, of St. Augustine, Florida.
Estelle is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathleen
Albright Lee, and two brothers-in-law, William H. Byrd
and Howard Helms, all of Gadsden, as well as 37 grand
children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchil
dren (living in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky,
South Carolina, Texas, Washington State, and Australia),
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in
Gadsden, Ala. Saturday, March 15, 2008. Burial followed
at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden. Estelle's grandsons,
James W. Allen and Dr. John D. Allen, of Augusta officiat
ed the service.
Bessie Mae Morris
September 5, 1909 - March 13, 2008
Bessie Mae Morris of Forsyth died Thursday, March 13,
2008. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15,
2008, at Forsyth United Methodist Church, with burial
in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ken
Stephens officiated.
Mrs. Morris, the daughter of the late William Henry
Collins and Hilma Bolton Collins was born in Barnwell,
SC September 5, 1909. Her husband, John Boyd Morris
and her son, Fred B. Morris preceded her in death. She
was a homemaker and a
member of Forsyth United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include her chil
dren, Helen Ramona Morris

Carolina and Carolyn
