Jungle
safari
Students at Forsyth United
Methodist Church Preschool
went on a safari recently. All
week their crafts and activities
focused on learning about the
jungle and its animals. They
also learned about animal
sounds and read jungle sto
ries. On the last day, the kids
went on a jungle safari that in
cluded special games and ac

MA’s Freeman selected
for Washington tour
Dana Freeman of Macon
was one of two students
recently selected to repre
sent Southern Rivers
Energy (SRE) on the 2008
Washington Youth Tour - a
leadership opportunity
sponsored by electric mem
bership cooperatives (EMCs)
June 12-19.
As part of the tour, Dana
will get to visit many of the
historic sites in Washington
as well as attend a
Congressional meeting with
U.S. Representatives, meet
both U.S. senators from
Georgia, and enjoy a river-
boat cruise on the Potomac.
“We are proud to offer such a unique
leadership opportunity to young people
in our community. This trip exposes
them to how our government works,
allows them to meet their U.S. Senators
and brings history to life. It builds their
character, self esteem
and leadership quali
ties while providing a
glimpse of what it took
to build such a great

Dana is the daughter
of Gary and Cindy
Freeman of Macon. She
is a junior at Monroe
Academy. She is the
captain of the cheer
leading squad, yearbook
editor, a member of the
tennis team and partic
ipates in the drama club. Dana is a
member of the literary team, student
council treasurer and Beta Club secre
tary. She plans to major in biochem
istry at Georgia Tech after graduation.

essay contest
Mary Persons junior Taylor Ham
rick won first place in the state
for her essay submitted recently
to the "It Takes Courage" contest.
Taylor received a $500 award.
MP also received a $500 prize.
The contest is sponsored and
judged by the Margaret Mitchell
House, Atlanta History Center
and AT&T.

A Coke and a smile
Monroe Academy’s Mustang Club held its annual Coca Cola sale recently. Glen Cun
ningham sold over 50 cases of coke products, which earned him a 26” flat screen TV.
Alumni weekend
set for Mssy 2 - 3
The second annual Alumni
Extravaganza weekend is set for
May 2 and 3.
The 12th annual alumni golf tour
nament is May 2 at River Forest
Country Club. The tournament is
open to anyone, but space is limit
ed. You must have a foursome to
play.
May 2 will be alumni soccer, bas
ketball and cheerleading.
All alumni are welcomed and
encouraged to attend the weekend
events.
