Blanche Elizabeth Foster
June 28,1924 - March 31,2008
Blanche Elizabeth Foster of Griffin died Monday, March
31, 2008. Graveside services were held Thursday, April 3
at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens in Forsyth. The Rev.
Franklin Etheridge officiated.
Mrs. Foster, the daughter of the late Henry and Victoria
Abernathy Ruffin, was born in Monroe County, June 28,
1924. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Foster of
Griffin and sister, Beatrice Bedford of Griffin.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel had charge of the
arrangements.
Ruby E. Reed
Ruby E. Reed, a homemaker, 70,
passed away on Friday, April 4,
2008 at her residence. She was
born in Forsyth and had lived in
Perry, Fla. for 15 years. She was
the daughter of the late Clarence
Williams and the late former
Verdie Mae Grubbs Williams. Mrs.
Reed was a member of the
Lighthouse Revival Center and
enjoyed reading and spending time
with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons,
Norman Ray Erwin Jr., Jimmy Erwin and wife Patricia;
two daughters; Debra Reed and husband Thomas and
Darla Ross and husband James, all of Perry, Fla.; three
brothers, Herschel Williams of Macon, Wesley William of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Curtis Williams of Forsyth; three
sisters, Dorothy Dorsey of Forsyth, Myrtice Jennings and
Bernice Williamson, both of of Fayette, Ark.; nine grand
children; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and
nephews.
Memorial Services were held at the Lighthouse Revival
Center in Perry, Fla. Monday, April 7 with Bro. Dennis
Nobles officiating.
Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Perry, Fla. had charge of
the arrangements.

There is only one sheet of
the service record with his
name, no further informa
tion.
PETER N. HEAD
Peter N. Head was enlist
ed March 4, 1862 in
Forsyth, Ga. by Lt. James
A. Jordan. He was dis
charged June 22, 1862 by
reason of surgeon’s certifi
cate of disability which
shows that he was born in
Chester District in the
State of South Carolina.
He was 52 years old, six
feet high, fair complexion,
grey eyes and light hair
and was by occupation a
farmer.
He was given $39.60 for
three months and 18 days
pay and traveling pay from
Richmond, Va. to Forsyth,
Ga. at ten cents a mile.
A.G. HIGH
The name of A.G. High is
on a Regimental Return for
the month of October 1862.
He was absent sick and
reported to hospital. There
is no further information.
JAMES M. HIGH
James M. High was
enlisted as a private on
March 4, 1862 in Forsyth
for the war. His name
appears on a Roll of men
employed on extra duty at
Camps near Orange Court
House during the month of
December 1863 and April
1864 as a Teamster. He
was shown on the
Company Muster roll for
May and June 1864 as
present and was listed as
Division Teamster.
Prisoner of War records
show that James M. High
was captured at Fort Gregg
April 2, 1865 and released
on oath at Point Lookout,
Md. June 27, 1865. His
place of residence was
shown as Monroe County,
Ga. He had dark complex
ion, dark brown hair and
hazel eyes and was 5 feet 8
? inches high. He was 22
years old in the 1860
Monroe County Census as
a clerk. His wife Minerva
was 17 years old.
SAMUEL C. INGRAM
He enlisted in Company
A on July 9, 1861 and on
the latest Company Muster
Roll dated October
31,1861, he was reported
absent sick. He transferred
to Company B, 45th
Regiment Georgia Infantry
14 July 1862.
Samuel C. Ingram was
wounded at Fredericksburg
December 13, 1862 and
again in the Wilderness on
May 6, 1864. He died of
disease December 9, 1864.
HIRAM B. JONES
Hiram B Jones enlisted
in Company A, 14th
Georgia Regiment as a pri
vate March 4, 1862 and
was appointed 3rd
Sergeant in 1863. He was
wounded at Spotsylvania,
Va. May 12, 1864 and was
on sick furlough February
28,1865.
According to ‘Family
Histories of Monroe
County, Georgia” page 216,
he was born in Monroe
County, Ga. and died
August 8,1883 in Yell
County, Arkansas where he
settled and became a doc
tor. He never married. He
was the son of Peter and
Rebecca Pickard Jones.
WILLIAM H. H. JONES
William H. H. Jones
enlisted as a private in
Company G, 9th Regiment
Louisiana Infantry in New
Orleans on September 23,
1861 and transferred to
Company A, 14th
Regiment Georgia Infantry
in April 1864. He was on a
furlough of indulgence on
February 28, 1865.
Janie Ruth Johnson Stewart
Janie Ruth Johnson Stewart, 88, went home to be
with the Lord on April 6, 2008. Services will be held at
11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Second Baptist
Church in Warner Robins with burial in Magnolia
Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
Tuesday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in
Warner Robins.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Monroe County to the late
Rolfe and Nannie Kate (Grant) Johnson. She had lived
in Warner Robins since 1944. She was preceded in
death by her husband, James L. Stewart, Sr. and a son,
James L. “Jimmy” Stewart, Jr.
She was one of the founding members of the Second
Baptist Church in Warner Robins. She served in many
areas of the church. She was a member of the
Harmony Faith Sunday Class, the XYZ Senior Group
and a former member of the church choir.
Mrs. Stewart was a graduate of Mary Persons High
School and attended Bessie Tift College in Forsyth.
She received her BS and Masters degrees from Georgia
College in Milledgeville. She taught at Westside
Elementary School for 32 years. She was a member of
the Georgia Association of Educators, the National
Education Association and the National Society of
Washington Family Descendants.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Stewart (Jerry)
Miller of Dublin, Charles P. (Gayle) Stewart of Warner
Robins, Janice Stewart(Larry) Varnadoe of Kathleen;
daughter-in-law, Barbara Long Stewart of Kathleen;
siblings, Imogene Vincent of Eatonton, Merle (Harold)
Giddens of Warner Robins, David (Jeannie) Johnson of
Calhoun and, Gloria Nix of Forsyth; grandchildren,
Mark (Kim) Stewart of Warner Robins, Darin (Tammi)
Stewart of Suwanee, Bryan (Tammy) Stewart of
Kathleen, Denise Stewart (Chris) James of Niceville,
FL, Joy Stewart (Jimmy) Moneypenny of Warner
Robins, Paul (Jennifer) Varnadoe of Athens, Brett
Varnadoe (Jessica Elser) of Warner Robins; three step-
grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren, several great-
great grandchildren; Clara Jordon and Traci Brown,
her loving caregivers; many nieces and nephews; and
last but not least, Rusty Boy Stewart, her precious
Jack Russell Terrier.
Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may
make donations to the Second Baptist Church Building
Fund, 2405 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA, 31088.

has charge of the arrangements.
