Incidents
The Forsyth Police
Department reported the
following incidents May 9-
12:
May 9
• 7:41 p.m. Officer
Devane was dispatched to
Forsyth Garden
Apartments after a woman
said her son was in a fight
and bleeding heavily from
his mouth and one of his
eyes. EMS services were
called to treat his injuries.
Sgt. Bittick and Officer
Devane were told the sus
pect was inside his moth
er’s apartment and had
changed from a black shirt
to an orange shirt.
May 10
• 1:29 a.m. A Forsyth
Gardens resident reported
she had been receiving
harassing phone calls from
a man. The man said he
had only called the woman
once to ask her about
sleeping with his brother.
He also said he had been
threatened by the com
plainant’s son after making
the phone call. The man
was transported to another
location for the night.
• 7:50 p.m. Officer
Devane stopped a blue
Chevrolet Astro Van travel
ing south on 1-75 for weav
ing in and out of lanes. A
female passenger was
arrested for false name
and date of birth and an
open container of alcohol
was found in the car. The
driver was cited for failure
to maintain lane and open
container of alcohol in the
passenger area of vehicle.
May 12
•6:30 p.m. Officer
Brittain was dispatched to
Holiday Inn in reference to
a guest harassing other
customers. The male guest
had been harassing cus
tomers all day, not follow
ing orders from staff and
threatening staff members.
The manager said the
guest had been drinking
all day. He was arrested for
disorderly conduct and ter
roristic threats.
The Sheriff’s office report
ed the following incidents
May 5-10:
• 7:20 p.m. A Sanders
Road resident said she was
burglarized and assaulted.
The woman said she
returned from her neigh
bor's house and noticed the
key to her house, which
she had left on her back
porch, missing. The back
door was open, and the res
ident's prescription drugs
were gone. The woman
said she was afraid to
enter her house at first, so
she returned to her drunk
en neighbor's house. Her
neighbor became aggres
sive when she tried to
wake him and assaulted
her.
May 5
• 2:53 p.m. A Boxankle
Road resident and Deputy
T. Daniels went to retrieve
property from a house.
Upon arriving they found
food scattered all around
the yard. The other occu
pant of the house had
thrown the food and other
property outside so that
the woman could pick it
up. The woman said that
the occupant had advised
her not to come to the
house to retrieve her
belongings. The woman
said the other occupant
had been leaving threaten
ing messages on her cell
phone.
• 5:04 p.m. A woman said
her debit card number was
used several times in
California. She said she
had not been in that state
at the times it was used
and that she had kept pos
session of her card. The
victim's bank discovered
the theft (over $2,000) and
notified the victim.
May 6
• 4:49 p.m. A man said
his trailer tag had been
taken from his trailer on
May 5. The tag was
entered into the crime
information system.
May 7
•10:50 a.m. Sgt. M. Hull
stopped a white Mazda
APV van on 1-75. The occu
pants appeared very nerv
ous and the female passen
ger kept denying she had
an ID. She finally handed
them her ID, and she had
two outstanding warrants
for her arrest. The driver
smelled of alcohol and had
a suspended license. Inside
the vehicle was an open
bottle of Smirnoff Ice. Both
driver and passenger were
arrested and charged.
•4:30 p.m. A man said his
ex-wife had been making
threats against him, saying
she was going to kill him.
He couldn't provide Deputy
Leggett with any voice
recordings of this and
there weren't any witness
es who had heard her
make these remarks
because they had been
done over his cell phone,
which he had answered
every time. His ex-wife's
mother later came forward
with voicemails left by her
daughter threatening the
man. His ex-wife was first
arrested for harassing
phone calls, but was later
charged with terroristic
threats.
May 8
•10:30 a.m. A woman
said her former tenant
tried to obtain her personal
information from the
Monroe County Bank. The
bank called the com
plainant when the tenant
tried to get the owner's
personal information, such
as account balance and
records. She was denied
access to the information
by the bank. The owner
also got a call from Verizon
saying the tenant tried to
change the passcode on her
Verizon phone account and
was again denied access.
The owner said the tenant
is angry at her over being
evicted.
• 4 p.m. A complainant
said a woman was threat
ening her whenever she
went to T.G. Scott to pick
up her son. The com
plainant said this had been
an ongoing problem and
she would pursue further
legal action if this contin
ued.
May 9
•9:37 a.m. A woman said
someone has been tamper
ing with her mail. The vic
tim said that the suspect
once instructed the rural
mail carrier that she did
not live there anymore,
thus resulting in the Post
Office stopping delivery to
her home. She said the
suspect was seen close to
her mailbox and that she
took pictures of him but
has not processed them.
The victim and suspect are
having legal problems.
May 10
•2:51 p.m. A Roberts
Farm Road resident said
someone shot the washer
in his tenant's apartment.
The owner asked his ten
ant if he had shot it, and
the tenant said he didn't.
He said no one else had
access to his apartment.
The tenant said he would
replace the washer, but has
not replaced it yet.
• 1:34 p.m. Deputy T.
Daniels was dispatched to
a call on southbound 1-75
at exit 188 in reference to
a suicide attempt. The
woman who was reportedly
suicidal said everything
was all right and she didn't
want to hurt herself, and
that everyone was making
a big deal of the situation.
The woman's sister said
she had tried to kill herself
at the gas station but she
was unable to get in the
car and take the knife
away from her. The sister
also said that while they
were driving, the woman
grabbed the steering wheel
and almost made them
wreck. The woman was
arrested and charged with
disorderly conduct.
• 8:56 a.m. A Torbet Road
resident said her ex-sister-
in-law was making threat
ening phone calls to her.
The victim said the woman
called her saying that she
was never to touch her
daughter's hair again, and
that if she did there would
be problems. The victim
said the woman was angry
over the divorce of her
brother and herself.
Deputy T. Daniels tried to
phone the woman, but was
unable to contact her.
May 11
• 10:47 p.m. A man said
his son had been drinking
and got mad at him
because he wouldn't give
him the keys to his car. He
said his son started
cussing, yelling and
screaming at him. When
his wife stepped in the
middle of them, his son
knocked her down and
then threw him to the
ground. His son continued
to attack him while he
tried to call 911 and
unplugged the phone from
the wall. When his son
found out the 911 call had
gone through, he left the
house walking north on
Old Brent Road.
May 12
• 1:31 p.m. A Happy
Lane resident reported a
tenant she evicted for not
paying her rent had done
major damage to the home.
The woman said that when
she finally entered the
house after the tenant left,
she noticed it was filthy.
There was a foul, over
whelming stench coming
from inside the house that
turned out to be fish car
casses that the tenant had
stuffed in the central heat
ing and air vents on the
floor. There was also half-
eaten food left sitting in
the sink, on the floor and
inside of other air vents as
well as other trash laying
around and stuffed inside
of air vents. The woman is
unsure where the former
tenant is now living.
May 13
• 2:51 p.m. A man report
ed someone stole the Harry
Norman Realty sign from
the side of Johnstonville
Road across from The
Overlook at River Forest.
The man said he knew the
person who might have
had something to do with
the theft. He said the sus
pect has been known to
take the Harry Norman
signs down along the roads
inside the River Forest
subdivision. Police
attempted to make contact
with the suspect, but were
unsuccessful.
• 10:48 p.m. A Klopfer
Road resident said he
arrived at his lawn care
business and discovered
two Stihl 400 gas blowers
and a Stihl 26 OS weed
eater stolen from the bed
of his pickup truck. He
said the pick-up truck was
parked in front of his busi
ness and not secure. He
said the last time he saw
the equipment was around
noon. He didn't know of
anyone who would commit
the act. He also discovered
two bottles of medication
missing from inside the
pick-up truck. He said the
medication, which was
stolen, was Percocet and
Roxicodone. Fingerprints
were unable to be taken
from the pick-up truck. The
estimated value of the
stolen items was $1200.
