Sara Cheatham Bittick
August 28,1915 - June 3, 2008
Sara Cheatham Bittick of Forsyth died Tuesday, June 3,
2008. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 5 at
First Baptist Church. Her former students sat in a group
at the service. Burial was in Forsyth City Cemetery. Dr.
Dan Whitaker and Reverend Malcolm Davis officiated.
Mrs. Bittick, the daughter of the late William Ernest
and Ethel Cook Cheatham was born Aug. 28, 1915, in
Toccoa, Ga. Her husband, Robert Luther Bittick, Sr., pre
ceded her in death. She was a 1933 graduate of Toccoa
High School, a 1937 graduate of Bessie Tift College,
where she received numerous awards, including The
Meritorious Service Award. Following her graduation she
served as alumnae secretary and established a scholar
ship fund for students. She served on the alumnae Board
of Trustees at Bessie Tift College and at Tift College of
Mercer University. Mrs. Bittick retired from the Monroe
County Board of Education with over 30 years of service.
She was a charter member of the Woman’s Club, a mem
ber of the Monroe County Hospital Auxiliary and a mem
ber of First Baptist Church. She traveled to over 40 for
eign countries.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Jane
Bittick (Bill) Murphy of McDonough; son, Robert L.
Bittick, Jr. of Gettysburg, Pa; grandchildren, Liza (Paul)
Fogle and Adam Murphy; great grandchildren, Tia and
Kaleb Fogle.

The Monroe County tax commissioner/registrar’s
office reminds voters that there are different voting
options in each election.
The primary election will be July 15. Voters must
choose a party, but can choose a different party in
each separate primary election.lt is the voter's privi
lege to choose a party which has the candidates the
voter thinks best fit the positions.
Deputy tax commissioner Lori Andrews encour
ages voters to check on their voter registration to
make sure they are registered and that your
address is correct in the system. This must be done
before June 16 in order to vote in the July 15 pri
mary. Absentee voting has already begun during
the hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the new
registrar's office located at the Pace & Pace
Building, 560 North Lee Street, Forsyth.
The General Election will be held Nov. 4. The
voter does not have to choose a party in this election
and may vote for candidates of choice on a split tick
