Lee Smith is in
ICU at the
Medical Center
in Macon recov
ering from a
stroke.
Smith, 47,
woke up
Thursday not
feeling well and
stayed in bed all day,
according to his wife Dr.
Deana Holliman Smith.
Finally, that night at 7:30
p.m. she took him to
Monroe County Hospital
where he was diagnosed
as having a stroke and
was taken to the Medical
Center.
Dr. Holliman Smith said
her husband is lucid and
has no paralysis, but
must remain intense
observation in ICU for
the next two weeks. She
said Lee has a
rare blood vessel
problem in which
a vessel and
artery rubbed up
against each
other, creating a
hole and a leak
age. Dr. Holliman
Smith said doc
tors are hoping
his brain will heal
and the clot clear so they
can do surgery to repair
the problem. If that hap
pens, said Holliman
Smith, doctors are 95 per
cent sure there will be no
permanent damage.
Dr. Holliman Smith said
it’s shocking because
their family had always
joked about what will the
laid-back Lee do when
she strokes out, because
she’s the intense one in
the family.

Ron Anglin, a juggler
from Barnesville, enter
tained children at Monroe
County Library last week
with his skills, but also
incorporated educational
aspects in his show.
Anglin taught children
how to count to five in
French, played "Simon
Says" in French and
informed them on the
dangers of diabetes.
Anglin was a teacher for
nine years, a helicopter
pilot with the Army and
currently works in a hos
pital performing and com
forting children who come
in for medical tests. His
juggling show was not
just a one-act perform
ance — he frequently
asked for volunteers from
the audience to assist him
in spinning plates and
playing horseshoes.
Anglin even taught chil
dren how to perform some
secretive juggling moves.
After the one-hour show,
children and parents got
the chance to talk to
Anglin.
