Hamptons celebrate
50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs.
William Charles
Hampton will
celebrate their
50th wedding
anniversary on
Sunday, Aug.31.
Charles and the
former Jane
Joyner were
married in 1958
at the Tyler
Memorial
Church in
Macon, with the Rev. W. H. Hampton, father of the
groom, officiating.
Jane Joyner Hampton is a native of Macon and the
daughter of the late J. Howard Joyner and Martha
Penny Joyner. She graduated from A. L. Miller Senior
High School after attending Gresham Grammar
School in Macon.
Charles Hampton, the son of the late W. Harold
Hampton and Ruth Hampton of Culloden, was born in
Atlanta, but moved to Macon in the early 1950s and
graduated from Lanier Senior High School.
The Hamptons have two children, Glen Hampton of
Jacksonville, Fla. and Leslie (Scott) Musser of
Valdosta; two grandchildren, Brittney (Michael)
Boswell and Michael Bond; one great grandchild,
William Drake Boswell.
The Hamptons celebrated with a trip to Italy earlier
in the year.

High school sweethearts
Burris, Dilfield to wed
Mr. and Mrs. Craig Dilfield of Lawrenceville announce
the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Jennifer H. Dilfield of Lawrenceville to Chad J.
Burris of Jackson.
The bride-elect attended Gwinnett Central High School
and is a gradute of Gwinnett Tech. She is a licensed Vet
Tech employed at Plantation Centre Animal Hospital in
Macon.
The groom-elect is the son of Ralph and Donna Burris
of Jackson. He attended Central Gwinnett High School
and is a supervisor with FireStar, Inc. in Macon/Atlanta.
The couple will be reciting their vows on the eighth
anniversay of their very first date. The wedding will be
held August 30, 2008 at Camp Rainy Mountain Boy
Scout Camp in Clayton. The couple will honeymoon in
Orlando and then reside in Jackson.
New Arrival
Bartow and Amanda Potts of Eastman announce the
birth of their daughter, Elyce Danielle Potts, on Aug. 4,
2008. She weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
Her grandparents are Ruby and John Cannon of
Forsyth and Sheree and Tommy Jones of Eastman.

Historic Site in Juliette
will offer visitors a chance
to recall “the old home
place” during the annual
Labor Day Folklife
Celebration on Monday,
Sept. 1 from 10:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. Demonstrations
of old time folk crafts and
skills will include those of
the blacksmith, steam
engine operator, woodstove
cooking, woodworker, tours
of the 1847 house, herbs,
and more. There are picnic
tables available, and cold
drinks for sale in the
Visitor Center. The gift
shop features books, old
time toys and crafts.
The admission fee is $4
for adults, $3.50 for seniors
age 62 and up, $2.50 for
children ages six though
eighteen. Children five
and under are admitted
free of charge.
Jarrell Plantation is a
Georgia State Historic Site
and is operated by the
Parks and Historic Sites
Division of the Georgia
Department of Natural
Resources. It is an exam
ple of a real Georgia cotton
plantation that became a
family farm then a state
historic site. In addition to
seeing the special event,
visitors will see two of the
Jarrell family’s homes,
barn smokehouse, outhous
es, and chicken houses.
Jarrell Plantation is
located in Jones County
near Juliette, 18 miles east
of Forsyth via Ga. Hwy 18.
