Fire prevention poster winners
The Bolingbroke
Volunteer Fire
Department’s annual fire
prevention poster contest
was held during the 8th
annual Fire Prevention
and Life Safety Day Sept.
20. There were over 100
entries in the contest in
six grade levels. Each
poster was judged on
whether it followed this
year’s Fire Prevention
Week theme, “Prevent
Home Fires.” The posters
were also judged for cre
ativity, originality of the
design and whether it
was a child’s design.
This year a kinder
gartener was the overall
winner. Brianna
Roundtree from Hubbard
Elementary School
designed a poster
reminding people of some
simple ways to help pre
vent home fires.
The school with the
most winners this year
was T.G. Scott. Thirteen
of the 19 winners were
T.G. Scott students.
Overall winner Brianna Roundtree at Hubbard Elementary, along with Bolingbroke vol
unteer firefighter James Weeks.

Terrell Raley was induct
ed into the United States
Naval Academy Class of
2012 at a ceremony con
ducted on July 2 in
Annapolis, Md. He com
pleted Plebe Summer and
has begun the current aca
demic year. He received his
Congressional nomination
from U.S. Rep. Jim
Marshall. Terrell is a 2008
honor graduate of Mt.
DeSales Academy where he
lettered in cross-country,
swimming and track. He
earned his Eagle Scout
award through BSA Troop
51 in Forsyth.
He is the son of Joel and
Diane Raley of
Bolingbroke.
