Hubbard Elementary School
Homecoming
Day Fun!
Classes at Hubbard Elementary
School were visited by "adopt
ed" MPHS football players and
cheerleaders on Homecoming
day. The students in Mrs.
Cawthon's kindergarten class
enjoyed a visit from cheerdawg
McCall Trammell and Bulldog
Kevin Jones. The children send
cards, drawings, and special
goody bags to McCall and Kevin
for each home football game. Students loved hearing from both of them. On Homecoming Day, the children had fun
asking McCall and Kevin questions and hearing about their activities in high school. We enjoyed cookies and juice and
also had a good time dancing to the "Tooty Ta." The kindergarteners all look forward to being high school students .
We love the Dogs!
Mrs. Watts and Mrs. Elder’s classes love the Mary Persons Bull
dogs. Ben Pierson spent some time with the students recently.
He read a story and did several activities with students in Mrs.
Watts’ class. Mrs. Watts is extremely proud of Ben, one of her
former students.

Kindergarteners visit Dausett Trails
This is Mrs. Webb’s Kinder
garten Class at Hubbard Ele
mentary School. We recently
took a field trip to Dauset
Trails. The children had a
great time seeing all of the
animals we have been study
ing about during our Fall and
Forest unit. In addition, they
saw animals like otters, fish,
foxes, owls, cougars, and
even a bear. We enjoyed dis
cussing the interesting facts
about each animal’s habitat,
what they eat and where they
live. It was a wonderful and
educational trip!!
Mrs. Bain’s and Mrs. Arp’s kinder
garten class enjoyed their field trip to
Dauset Trails. They had a great time
seeing all the animals. Some of the an
imals they saw were fish, snakes, owls,
foxes, cougars, and pigs. They learned
about nocturnal animals and what
some animals eat. It was the perfect
fall field trip!
Mrs. Balkcom’s class also enjoyed the trip to Dauset Trails. The
park had many woodland animals to view as well as a wonderful
farm yard area to visit and view. The class visited the farm yard
first because the children had just completed a unit of study
about farm animals. The students were very excited about see
ing “real live” farm animals such as the goats, pigs, cows and
chickens.
Students seem to relate to the
farm animals because they
could recall facts and stories
about farm animals. During the
farm unit study the kinder
garteners’ favored traditional
stories such as The Three Billy
Goats Gruff and The Three Lit
tle Pigs. The children did many
activities with the stories such
as compare how the stories
were alike and different.
