The Monroe County
Sheriff s office reported the
following incidents Oct. 14-
21:
Oct. 14
• 1:07 p.m. Police were
dispatched to a car accident
on 1-75 south bound. The
complainant said he was
passing the weigh station
south bound in the center
lane when a flatbed truck
came out of the weigh sta
tion and merged directly
into his lane. The com
plainant said he had to
swerve over into the third
lane to avoid contact.The
suspect said he was simply
trying to exit the weigh sta
tion and the complainant
would not let him into traf
fic. The suspect said the
complainant hit the passen
ger side of his truck. Both
said they had gotten into
an argument over the CB
radio before the accident
happened.
• 1:47 p.m. Cpl. Duncan
was conducting traffic
enforcement on 1-75 when
he stopped a Dodge Stratus
for dark window tint. There
was a strong odor of burnt
marijuana coming from
within the car but the sus
pect said there wasn’t any
in the car. A large silver
ashtray was found in the
driver’s floorboard that con
tained marijuana stems
and seeds. There was also a
green plastic bag in the
center console that con
tained suspected marijua
na. The woman was arrest
ed and her dogs turned
over to the Monroe County
animal control.
• 8:25 p.m. Deputy W.
Jackson was dispatched to
Anderson Road in reference
to a stolen four wheeler.
The complainant said he
arrived home around 8 p.m.
and found his 2005
Kawasaki Prairie missing
from a shed. The four
wheeler is valued at $5,400.
The complainant said a
worker from Forsyth Cable
had been at his house on
the day of the incident and
thought one of them might
know something.
Oct. 16
• 3:33 p.m. A complainant
said someone had stolen
$16,000 from a popcorn box
that had been inside his
kitchen cabinet. The money
had been in $100 bills and
the box had been in the
rear of the cabinet. The vic
tim said he and his son
were the only ones who
knew the box was in the
cabinet and his son didn’t
even know the exact
amount in the box. The
complainant said he has
two women who clean his
house every two weeks and
they had last been there on
Oct. 9. He said the last
time he had seen the
money was when the two
came to clean.

patched to Camilla Ct. in
reference to a theft. The

stole a large amount of
money from a coffee can
that had been inside a table
in the bedroom. On Oct. 7 a
worker from DirecTV came
to his house to replace a
dish and receiver. He said
he thought it was odd that
the worker wanted to check
the bedroom TV and went
in and out for about an
hour and a half. He said he
had put money in the coffee
can before the worker
arrived and said no one else
had been in his house prior
to the theft except he and
his wife.
• 11:15 a.m. Deputy
Leggett was dispatched to
Hwy 42 North in reference
to vandalism to a house.
The complainant said he
had been out of town since
the end of August, but some
time over the past week
someone broke into his
house and vandalized it.
The complainant showed
Leggett a motor home that
was sitting outside of his
house which had the door
hanging off of it. The com
plainant said someone had
damaged the door and
kicked the windshield out
of his Jaguar. Inside the
house, a computer had been
thrown from a table and
was laying on the floor and
tools that had been used to
pry open the window were
on the bed. A fur coat was
on the floor with a sleeve
torn off. The glass door of
the china cabinet had been
shattered, and extensive
damage had been done to
furniture in the house.
Nothing was missing from
the house except for a set of
hearing aids and a 20 inch
TV from the outside motor
home. Fingerprints were
taken from a wrench that
was thought to have been
used to break into the
house.
• 2:33 p.m. Deputy

mission. She told dispatch

Brownlee Road in Jackson.
The Jackson Police
Department found the car
asked the complainant if
she wanted to prosecute her
son for stealing it. She said
her son did not have a dri
ver’s license and had a
drinking problem and
wanted to prosecute so he
wouldn’t get drunk and
hurt himself or someone
else. The Jackson Police
Dept, took her son into cus
tody and warrants will be
taken against him for theft
of a motor vehicle.
• 3:34 p.m. Sgt. Clay was
dispatched to the intersec
tion of Collier Road and

The bus driver said a small
blue car had pulled out in
front of her bus. She tried
to avoid hitting the car but
the bus began to skid due
to the wet road. She was
able to regain control of the
bus and bring it to a stop
on Collier Road. Some stu
dents were complaining of
injuries and Monroe Co.

their injuries. The rest of
the students were released
at the scene to their par
