KIMBERLY BOWEN
"Clients often comment that they can
hear just fine, but they don’t under
stand. The clarity is missing. Often, the
reason for this is that they are mainly
hearing vowel sounds, like a, e, i, o, and
u that have more energy and are loud
er. However, they are often not hearing
the softer sounds such as "th, s, h, ch”
which are harder to hear. Therefore,
they are only hearing parts of words
and are guessing at the rest. This is
why they frequently say, ‘I can hear,
but I don’t understand.’A hearing exam
can be done in as little as 30 minutes.”
says Rebecca.
Baker Hearing Aids can determine
how much volume to program into a
hearing aid at different frequencies to
optimize clarity of words. In the past,
the technology programmed into a
hearing aid was determined based on
its size. “A small hearing aid was only
for someone with a mild hearing loss”,
Rebecca explains. “If more volume was
necessary to compensate for the hear
ing requirement, it would feedback, or
whistle, which required the fitting of a
larger, more visible hearing instrument.
With the Rhapsody Technology, we can
fit much smaller instruments, about the
size of a contact lens.”
Clients come from all over Middle
Georgia and as far as Covington and
Barnesville, Lake Oconee, Dublin,
Thomaston and Milledgeville for this
technology. Ronnie Dopson, owner of
Jacks Saw Shop, is a client of Baker
Hearing Aids and has expressed how he
decided to get a hearing aid. "When the
grandbaby started talking and I could
n’t hear him calling me, I knew it was
time," he said. Other clients have
expressed their gratitude to Rebecca,
sharing how their lives were changed
through this technology and better
hearing.
Starkey Labs invented the revolution
ary technology, which is patented, and
NuEar is a subsidiary of Starkey. Baker
Hearing Aids offers products from
Starkey and NuEar. They also repair
and service all makes and models of
hearing aids, regardless of where they
were purchased. In addition, Baker
Hearing offers service and program
ming of hearing aids to veterans who do
not want to make the trip to Augusta.
Hearing is every bit as important as
eyes and sight, and yet many people
have never had a hearing test. It is
simple, free, and only takes thirty min
utes. Why not have a hearing test
today? Baker Hearing
Aids is on a mission to
provide Middle
Georgia with the
highest quality digital
hearing aids at afford
able prices.
