Karl Hill
Karl Bramblett Hill of Forsyth was born Aug. 14,
1929 in Forsyth, the son of Charner Woodson Hill and
Cora Anderson Hill. He pub
lished a neighborhood
newspaper while still a
child, played football
for Mary Persons
High School, and
was president of
his senior class in
1947.
A longtime grad
uate student he
earned humani
ties and philoso
phy degrees from
University of
Chicago, then
anthropology and law
degrees from Harvard,
in between graduate
studies serving three years
in the U.S. Army during the
Korean conflict
After finishing studies, he worked as editor of book
publisher Beacon Press in Boston; practiced foreign
management consulting with Associates for
International Research in Cambridge, Mass.; and then
worked two years in the new U.S. cabinet Department
of Housing and Urban Development, before returning
to Forsyth.
In 1968 he came home, into the Monroe County
Bank, where as president he moved it from its old 22-
feet-wide storefront on Johnston Street to its spacious
two-blocks building and Flowering Park at the corner
of Main and Lee Streets.
In recent years he remained chairman of Monroe
County Bank as it was led by younger president Bill
Bazemore. Karl has been a speaker at several New
York investment conferences in recent years.
He is survived by sister Perla Simon of Walla Walla,
Washington, by her children and grandchildren, and
by his Forsyth associates and friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29,
2008 at 2 p.m. at the Flowering Park of Monroe
County Bank, 1 East Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia. A
private burial will follow.

Donald Roy McCormick
November 21,1919 - October 22,2008
Donald Roy McCormick, Sr., 88, of Snellville, passed
away Oct. 22, 2008 at Bortz Health Care of Warren,
Michigan.
A graveside service was held Oct. 27 in Monroe Hills
Memorial Gardens in Forsyth. Expressions of sympathy
may be sent to The American Cancer Society, P O Box
56566, Atlanta GA 30343.
Donald was born in Lorain, Ohio, on Nov. 21, 1919. A
graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1940, he was the
center for the “Lavenders” football team and instrumen
tal in their undefeated season and Lake Erie League
Championship of 1939. He served in the United States
Army’s 881st Chemical Company during World War II.
Upon retirement from U. S. Steel of Lorain, he moved to
Snellville in 1979.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Murner
McCormick; his daughter, Linda, and his sister, La Verne
Hovey. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Grills of
Lorain, Ohio; step-sister, Eleanor Hemminger of Avon,
Ohio; sons Donald McCormick Jr. (Vicki) of Barre,
Vermont and Paul McCormick (Bonnie ) of Clinton
Township, Michigan; two grandchildren, Joshua and
Heather McCormick of Vermont; and his loving compan
ion Rhody Molnar of Covington.
A. S. Turner and Sons of Decatur had charge of the
arrangements.
Patsy Elizabeth Turner
March 22,1950 - October 27,2008
Patsy Elizabeth Turner of Forsyth died Monday,
October 27, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 5
p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Second Baptist Church. The
Revered Ernest H. Orr will officiate. Burial will be pri
vate. The family will greet friends immediately following
the services at the church.
Mrs. Turner, the daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn
Elizabeth Ard Wilder was born on March 22, 1950, in
Monroe County. Her husbands, Millen Alfred Turner and
Jerry Boyd Fort; son Thad Alfred Turner and grandson,
Thad Alfred Turner, Jr. preceded her in death.
She was previously employed with the Telegraph.
Survivors include her children, Tina Elizabeth Todd,
Tonya Lynn Jenkins, Anthony (JoAnne) Turner and
Tyrone Warren Turner, all of Forsyth; sister, Faye
(Walter) Stapleton of McDonough; nine grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to
Second Baptist Church, PO Box 5905, Forsyth, GA
31029.
