Firefighters
Forsyth police were called to inves
tigate after two Georgia firefighters
here for classes at the training cen
ter got into a fight and trashed their
room at the Forsyth Comfort Inn.
Adam Westbrook, a firefighter with
the Coweta County Fire
Department, and John B. Camareri,
a firefighter with Johns Creek Fire
Department, caused moderate dam
age to room 212 after they apparent
ly got into a fight.
According to the Forsyth Police
Department report, Officer Greggory
Phillips was dispatched to the
Comfort Inn at 12:30 p.m. in refer
ence to criminal damage to property,
"Reporter
accused of trashing room
which had been reported by manag
er Fred Kapadia. Kapadia took
Phillips to room 212, where he said
firefighters Adam Westbrook and
John B. Camareri had damaged the
room’s contents and light fixtures.
According to the report, the light fix
ture was busted and there were
parts laying on the floor. Wires were
also hanging off of the fixtures and
the lamp shades were torn and bust
ed. Blood splatter was found on the
floor of the bathroom and photos
were taken of the room and damage
that had been done. Large amounts
of alcohol were found in the room.
Instructors from the Georgia Public
Safety Training Center came to take
extra photos of the room. According
to the report, the instructors told the
owners at Comfort Inn that the
room would be returned to normal
and problems repaired immediately.
The owners said it would be fine and
they were OK with the forthcoming
repairs.
Johns Creek spokesman Rosemary
Taylor said the new city just hired
78 firefighters to open its depart
ment last month. She said she does
n’t know yet whether Camareri will
face discipline. A woman who
answered the phone at Westbrook’s
Newnan home said he wasn’t there.

Nov. 6
•6:24 p.m. Officer
Brittian was dispatched to
Harris Street after a com
plainant said someone had
thrown a brick and cracked
the windshield of his car.
He said he didn’t see who
did it but believes an ex-
girlfriend is responsible.
Nov. 8
•12:15 a.m. Officers
Smith and Crane were dis
patched to College Street
when a complainant said a
man threw a brick into the
driver side window. The
estimated cost to repair the
broken window is $500.
There were no witnesses or
suspects found.
Nov. 11
•8:34 p.m. Officer Devane
was patrolling Forsyth
Garden Apartments when
he saw a Ford Escort
parked between buildings
M and L with the door
open and loud music play
ing. The engine was run
ning, but there was no one
in the car or around it. Due
to the excessive noise and
the fact neighbors were
complaining, Devane
reached inside and turned
the car off. There was an
open 12 oz. Budlight in the
center console. A witness
said that the owner of the
car had just left and
walked up the street. The
witness said she had called
her and couldn’t get in
touch with her. Devane
locked the car and took the
keys, telling the witness to
send the owner to the
police department to get
her keys. As Devane was
leaving, dispatch said the
owner was on the phone.
The owner said she let
someone borrow the car
and she didn’t have trans
portation to the police
department. The owner
was advised of the situa
tion and her keys were
returned to her by Devane.
The Monroe County
Sheriff’s office reported the
following incidents Nov. 5-
12:
Nov. 5
•4:59 p.m. Cpl. White was
told by Lt. Ogletree to stop
a 1974 Ford F100 because
Ogletree’s task force agents
said it had smelled of mari
juana. White tried to stop
the car, but it sped up. The
driver pulled up to a
Talmadge Road home and
fled from the truck. White
yelled for him to stop, but
he continued to run into
the woods. The passenger
was the owner of the truck
and said he didn’t know
the man who had been
driving. He was arrested
for obstruction. He said he
didn’t want to tell White
who the driver was. The
man’s wife and mother con
vinced him to talk to
White, who said he would
n’t go to jail if he told the
truth and gave a written
statement. The man then
wrote a statement and said
his uncle was driving the
truck. He said they had
given two men a ride to the
store. When his uncle real
ized the men were smoking
marijuana he made them
get out. Warrants were
issued for his uncle’s
arrest.
•5:11 p.m. Cpl. White was
dispatched to Dollar
General when complainant
said she was turning left
from Blount Road onto
Boxankle Road when a
Ford F150 started riding
her tail. The driver was
also pointing at her and
appeared to be shouting.
When she pulled into
Dollar General, the truck
stopped on High Falls Road
and began to back up. The
driver got out of the truck
and began threatening her.
The passenger also started
threatening the com
plainant and threw a
Mountain Dew bottle at the
the victim’s SUV. She then
slammed the victim’s arm
in the car and slapped her
across the face. Two wit
nesses confirmed the vic
tim’s story and one of them
knew the driver because he
was a customer at her
store. She provided White
with the driver’s name and
address. She said she didn’t
know who the passenger
was. White went to the
address and found the
described truck. A woman
came to the door and said
the truck owner wasn’t
home. She gave an account
of what had happened the
night before, saying the vic
tim had been the one
screaming at them.
Warrants were issued for
the driver and the woman
at the house.
Nov. 7
•9:05 p.m. Sgt. Hull was
helping do a field sobriety
check point on Hwy. 41 and
1-475 when he tried to stop
a car that was traveling
south on Hwy 41. The driv
er had the window down as
he drove by and Hull yelled
for him to stop but he con
tinued onto 1-475. Hull got
into his car and followed
him, watching as the truck
crossed the divider line on
the interstate. The car did
n’t come to a complete stop
until Hull turned his siren
on. The driver only had an
ID card and appeared to be
intoxicated. He failed field
sobriety tests and tested
positive for alcohol. He was
arrested for DUI, driving
on a suspended license and
had a warrant in Macon.
He blew a .87 during the
breathalyzer test.
Nov. 10
•3:57 p.m. A complainant
said an Australian
Shepherd came into her
yard and began attacking
her Chihuahua. The dog
had to be taken to the ani
mal hospital. The owner
said the expense had
already totaled $260 and
there was more that need
ed to be done to care for
her dog. The complainant
wants the owner of the
Australian Shepherd to pay
the vet bill, but she doesn’t
know who the dog belongs
to. Police were unable to
find the Shepherd.
Nov. 12
•6:38 p.m. Deputy
Daniels was dispatched to
Hwy. 41 South when a com
plainant said she and a for
mer employee had gotten
into an argument. The
complainant had fired the
employee and was trying to
escort her out of the build
ing when the suspect began
cursing and yelling at her
to get her hands off of her.
The sheriff’s office was
called and the suspect left
the premises. The com
plainant said she didn’t
want the woman to return
to her business. The sus
pect was advised by
Daniels not to return.
